Department of Unfortunate Coincidences

Postby Tim Kelly » Mon Nov 02, 2015 4:08 pm

Surely the most unfortunate coincidence ever....
On the same day that a Russian airliner explodes over Egypt....
In Britain, Channel 4 TV transmits an episode of "Homeland", in the last scene of which, a passenger jet explodes over Switzerland....
the bomb triggered by the mobile phone that Peter Quinn found in his mailbox...
in the past, had something like this happened, the TV station would have postponed the programme.

Not just "Homeland", but also "Doctor Who"! Both featured exploding airliners! Maybe someone should create a new website; ExplodingAirlinersFans!

If you postponed a TV show every time a terrorist blew something up in the middle east every channel would be nothing but test patterns. Disrupting your life is exactly what they hope to accomplish. Keep calm, carry on, and they don't win.

I always wondered if Tom Clancy ever blamed himself for the attacks of 9/11. It was in his novel "Debt of honor" that (( SPOILER ALERT! )) a Japanese airline pilot who was ashamed at his country's second military humiliation at the hands of the Americans decided to Kamizaze his 747 (fully loaded with fuel) into the Capitol while the President was addressing a joint session of Congress.

They did make ONE schedule change; Pick-TV (formerly Sky-3, one of Fox's cable/satellite/digital channels in UK) rescheduled "24: Live Another Day" from a 9pm to a midnight slot, because the latest episode featured an attack by a US drone (albeit one hijacked by cyber-terrorists) on a hospital in London!

Guys, what are you speaking about? The Russians still refuse to confirm that the cause of the catastrophe was bombing. They still stubbornly insist that the most probable cause was a technical failure. And they remind about a bunch of "similar cases" - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/China_Airlines_Flight_611 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japan_Airlines_Flight_123 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stavropol ... light_1023

If they insist, what the hell do you want from TV stations?

Billy, the gargling from media losers will go on until you fucking put a bayonet through their eye socket WHILE drowning them

The latest actual factual data, is from the 8th which stated:

On Nov 8th 2015 the EAAIC re-iterated, that only the information provided during the press conference on Nov 7th 2015 is official. With reference to new media reports (editorial note: claiming based on Egyptian investigators that the sound at the end of the CVR is 90% consistent with a bomb explosion) the chairman of EAAIC stressed, that this information comes from unnamed sources not associated with the EAAIC despite claims those sources were Egyptian investigators.

Thats it

Personally, I think the most disturbing thing about the current series of "24: Live Another Day" is...
The British Prime Minister, clearly based on the current one, David Cameron, is played by Stephen Fry, a comedian who used to have opinions so left wing that he would probably have been shot in California, let alone Texas; this represents a major sell-out of personal principles on his part; also, we have not so far seen any sign of a pig's head being put to an interesting use by the PM (see Michael Ashcroft's current best selling "unauthorised biography" of Cameron, "Call Me Dave"); plus, for Fry, who used to swear that he would NEVER under ANY circumstances work for Murdoch, this must represent the ULTIMATE sell-out ("24" is made and distributed by Fox, owne dby Murdoch), and Another thing, why hasn't FRY used the catch-phrase that made him famous; "Fluffy, Pink, Pink & Fluffy, Nyaaaaaah!" (used by Fry's character Melchett, in every series of "Blackadder")
Note to Fry; remember Tony Hancock's last recorded public quote; "If there's one thing I've learned, it's, 'Don't kick away your props'".

I would also suppose that no experts would confirm a bomb explosion just by sounds of CVR without other evidence from damage (and probably contamination) of certain parts of the aircraft. I am pretty sure that the sound of disintegration of a fuselage would be similar to possible sounds of a bomb explosion.

Since the people were killed anyway and since, sadly, it is anyway someone's guilt (unless the aircraft were hit by a meteorite what would be really just an unfortunate Force Majeure) I dare to say that for me the bomb explosion seems more fair thing. There are two reasons. First, the terrorists had (and still have) motivation and possibilities. And in this case one very guilty person gets at least a bit of responsibility for his deeds. I don't want to approach to a political discussion, but those who know what is going on in my country probably can easily understand who is that scoundrel. The second reason is that if it really was just a technical failure it would be a very sad demonstration of a Russian saying, "with seven nurses the child lost an eye". The aircraft designed and manufactured by a French company, owned by an American company, leased to a Russian airline and maintained by an Irish company, had passed all necessary procedures, and then simply disintegrated in the air? Well, such things had happened before, but still...
