The game in Q was a long time ago (when Dallas had a team, a coach, and numb-nuts wasn't trying to be a super-(retarded)-genius as well as owner....) but Miami was kicking on 4th down, so its going to be change of possession anyway. Dallas, time is running out so all they need is to kill it , get back on offence , take a knee and go home for turkey. Lett, the fucking imbecile, touches the ball, thus making it "live" .... on a snow covered field, which is the last thing any sane coach wants. Miami kicks the field goal, and thats that. If he had fell on it, and kept it, no worries. But WHY risk it?? You are gonna get the ball back anyways. Any coach who is not a total retarded moron knows to coach his players in that situation, RUNAWAY

Some of the comments here are such that I think some people are mixing up two botched plays by Lett.

One was a blocked punt that Lett should have ignored but tried, unsuccessfully, to pick up. The result was Miami got another chance at a game-winning field goal. The other was fumble recovery which Lett should have run back for a touchdown. He tried to celebrate prematurely and the ball was knocked of his hands and through the endzone, resulting in a touchback (not a safety). They aint mixed up at all; both are on the video against differing opponents. The only common factor is that Lett is a fucking imbecile x2 who didn't learn from his mistake.

Dunno if you ever played the game but sometimes a player is not fully alert. Yes both incidents are on the video but comments suggested that people were missing that.

If no player ever made a mistake, the game would be more predictable and less interesting. That applies to all sports.

Besides, the guy was a lineman - not a position usually requiring deep cerebral analysis. In rugby, there was once a prop forward (a bit like a lineman - big, strong, not terribly subtle) who missed an obvious scoring opportunity. The die hard football fans will probably not agree with this but I find the TV currently on showing a game between Detroit and Philadelphia to be downright comical. It is snowing so hard the cameras can barely pick up the game. Fans are loyal, of course, but you could not pay me enough to get me to remain in the stands under such conditions.

Yes, this astonishes me. Not that it snows in America, or that the game is played come what may; but that you LET the pitch get covered in snow. Reviewing the week's games, I saw three or four played on snow-covered pitches.

Over here, every Premier League football ground has undersoil heating, which keeps the pitch temperature above freezing. This means that as soon as any snow hits the ground it immediately melts, and the game is not disrupted. Why America - which is not usually a land which eschews the use of technology - doesn't simply follow suit is a puzzle to me.

back to the other football... big game this week in Istanbul where they apparently don't have the heating technology... the officials called the game in the first half and had to resume the next day... something about not being able to see the lines on the field... while in Philly, they just shoveled off the lines and "play on!"
