what is your favorite type of quicksand

My favorite type is wet beach quicksand, or the Chester, IL quicksand (as seen on my profile pic). The sight of Maggie sinking into the Chester quicksand gets my blood pumping pretty good!

Have to agree with you with peat, it's just the best for sinkability, quicksand is impossible to have fun with unless your into stuck feet or legs, and silty mud (which does feel nice) is usually so dense that your to boyant to sink easily and it exerts a crushing pressure on the chest which causes you to get breathless before you have even got to you chin, and if your a deep sinker into total submersion like me that's not so much fun when your feelin suffocated before you even to your shoulders, peat though is just different, weather it's thick or thin, you can sink!, easily, all the way under, and if you want - stay there! It's also safe enough to dive head first into without snapping your neck or giving your self a head ache, and next to impossible to get stuck in too.

Peat rules!, or at least it would if it wasnt mostly found in colder climates

Definitely, my favorite is clay. It's smooth and silky. It takes awhile to dry out and extra water doesn't tend to make it too thin either. It tends to be stable. People are very buoyant in clay but that's not a big issue for me since I don't require submersion to be satisfied.

Natural peat is second on my list. It is highly manageable for shoots especially. It also looks good. It's just very traditionally "Hollywood"!

I'm definitely not into stuck. I like things thick but if it feels like it might be a more "stuck" kind of substance than a sinking one, I will abandon a mudpit in a hurry. And actual quicksand tends to have the "stuck" problem. So, despite the fact that I'm a quicksand fetishist, I prefer substances that play the role of quicksand over actual quicksand. It must be sinkable!

Just the regular kind. Not too gritty, not too thick- just right. Clay is awesome for bathing/sinking in, and peat is good for deep sinks. But I love the feeling when real QS goes "quick" and you start to sink.

Peat. IT looks dangerous and best on screen. Esepcially when its thick. IT can look quite convincing and can look like its "alive"

Seriously, I love it in all its forms for different reasons...

Peat - because it looks dark and evil, like the Grimpen Mire, almost like a living creature. Perfect for sinking the "bad girl."

Clay - because it looks fantastic on screen, and seems nice and smooth.

Dry sand - just because... And I liked to bury myself at the beach.

The dark beach sand stuff because... it just looks too damn cool!

Hollywood quicksand - nostalgia. Back before I discovered the community, it served as quicksand in my mind's eye for decades. Looks cool when it bubbles, too. Plus I suspect it is easier for the actresses to work with in scenes.

After all, variety is the spice of life!

Realism aside, it'd have to be wet beach sand for me. It's probably the one "sand" medium that most people physically come across, and rare is the day where beachgoers don't make at least one joke about quicksand.

The scenario is a personal favourite too. Remote beach, flat unsuspecting sand. No obvious signs. The victim suddenly sinks, finding themselves surrounded by nothing but quicksand! Low chance of someone passing by, nothing to grab onto -- and often not much to take off either!
