In a word... submergence!

I need to be able to act out a classic mire scene where the victim sinks to their doom, complete with struggling and the whole deal... plus slowly slipping under, the mud rising over the mouth, nose, eyes then forehead to close over the top of my head... if I can manage a slow hand sink while still under the surface, so much the better.

I've done this numerous times... not this year, alas... but nothing beats it for me. The coolest thing is to be completely under, do the slow hand sink... then wiggle around to feel the whole mass of mud move sluggishly around you in time with your movements. Stay under until you need to pop up and breathe.

I don't use a snorkel or other breathing tube... my mud pit is shoulder deep standing up, making it pretty comfortable to dip under by lifting my legs up... it is also possible to slowly sink without needing to really force myself under.

Hrmm, for me, It would be sinking in anything that was safe to sink in, really. Preferably alone <.<;

In all honesty, I've been a member of this fandom for years, but I've not really been out getting muddy or sinking or anything! DX I'm one of the many souls unlucky enough to be living near any good spots, save the occasional gritty, knee-deep sand bar and the ankle deep red clay mud puddle.

If I could find a pit away from everyone that was like, waist deep at least, that would be amazing... sadly, between a full time job and school online, I don't have time to go out and even scout my surroundings! D:

I wish the mud I sank in recently was like this-- I want to experience it so bad. The mud I was in was not really thick and oozing. It was more, like, grainy and clumpy. When my legs sank in it, the mud displaced out of the way, and it was like standing in a big empty hole.

This has changed for me over the years. As a child I was thrilled by stepping into 10" deep mud in rubber boots. In later years it would be an amazing rush to sink into the swamp barefoot and feel mud between my toes.

The ultra-rare rush of success now is found by sinking under as my outstretched fingertips slip under the surface and my toes never find the bottom of the mire that swallowed me. Once the surface is out of reach of my fingertips I feel engulfed and I slowly exhale through my nose and imagine how my exhaled breath must be belching and hissing from the surface above my fingertips.

Then I must inhale some air or I will die and odd stories will be told of my death so I struggle to the surface. I'm a bit shocked by the definition creep of "success" for me over the years. I had repressed the whole QS thing for several years b/c of the rarity of total success; it just largely wasn't worth getting wet and dirty (and potentially getting caught) unless I could have it all.

Any time where my pleasure outweighs my frustration. Things that frustrate me:

Uninvited people/the possibility of uninvited people.
Especially annoying insects.
Nothing more than waist deep.

If I could find a spot that's deep and people free, I'd be ecstatic. I'll just buy a house with lots of property I guess...

It's got to be a steady descent into something fairly thick. Stuck doesn't work for me and thin-and-runny is underwhelming.

I'm fine once I've made it chin-deep. Sometimes I'll hang there and other times I get out and sink, oh, eight or ten times to get the sinking feeling over again.

OK to cheat by going in at an angle. Just, I don't want to feel bottom.

I do not go under for my own gratification, but mastering The Perfect Submersion for video purposes at Massivia has been a challenge. It's a difficult mudpit to master.

The first time I made it and didn't see hair on top on the clip, I felt a great sense of accomplishment!
