Re: Youtube - "One Life to Live" Scene
Thanks for posting this Duncan, not one I'd seen before. This is a pretty good scene for a TV show, they took their time and got a good scene, so all credit to them.

Thank you, Duncan.
Generally, I tend to be underwhelmed by TV and movie scenes. The producers don't know us, and don't really know what we like. But this one was good. The sinking wasn't too fast. She turned in a good performance and was dressed in nice sinkwear. And the quicksand pit was attractive.
Maybe "One Of Us" was on the production crew...somewhere.

Re: Youtube - "One Life to Live" Scene
I have watched this video a number of times now. I can spot the location-shifting from shot to shot (I mean, when she is shoulder-deep with the muddy arms, where was that low hanging branch she grabs back when she was knee-deep?). Yeah, it really does look like real oatmeal beneath the sand. However, the more times I watch this, the more I would place this one in my top-five mass-media all time. It is one of the few scenes ever where the director and actress would not speed it up part-way through. The scenes at each-deeper sequence are all good; it makes the discontinuity actually work to build suspense instead of ruining the story. Nice-looking actress; good fear-factor acting; every rescue device (but a rope) known to mankind; and a good, slow double pullout - plus some nice muddy after-conversation where she refers back to the quicksand several times.
Thanks very much for you effort in retrieving this gem!

Great scene,
though I'm always telling the young men of today to count their blessings that girls of their generation at least know how to look good,
I, alas, was unfortunate enough to be a teenager in the early 90s when girls (like this one) had some pretty retarded ideas when it came to dolling up.
oh well,
still a great scene.

Sounds like a scene worth looking up.... sure doesn't sound familiar to me.

This is the closest I got , At about 6:20 , A very small sample of the scene as the video is a 1984 recap for guiding light , The scene looks to be after 11/19/84 and the one who was sunken is Susan

Guiding Light, Susan Piper dies in quicksand, to be specific.
