I was talking to Jane, the dog that Summer found at Camp MPV a few years ago, and she had no problem with this. Stay with me for a minute.

We're not thinking big enough about this. Rumor has it that Elon Musk is going to finance a $10,000,000,000 chunk of the merger between Warner Brothers and Paramount leading to the creation of Skydance Media. Elon would become an owner of Friends, Star Trek, Bugs Bunny, Harry Potter, and best of all Tarzan and Gilligan's Island. He's needs media for a huge social media outlet with "X" (Twitter) and coming soon he will have gigawatts of orbital AI compute. It's a perfect setup for him to license these shows so Skydance and X get a piece of the action from all the AI stuff that's already appearing. What makes this so great for our future? I get to write and direct an episode of Gilligan's Island. What's even better about that? It will guest star Summer Monroe of MPV fame!

Summer will play Kazonga! Daughter of Bazoomba! The Part Time Jungle Girl once played so well by Candle Boxxx. There's a great scene where she rescues both Mary Ann and Ginger from the quicksand down by the lagoon. She eventually leaves the castaways on the island because Gilligan has unintentionally convinced her it's a paradise. She goes on to have her own spinoff series as Kazonga!

There's your future. Not really joking. I'll get back with you in a few years.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

Welp, nobody ever accused you of thinking small. 8-)

I'm also constantly amazed at how many (in this case 'stellar') dots you can connect.

A few years; yea, it will be interesting.

Is it the case that many, if not most of us think that the future belongs to AI? If so, then this might be of interest.

I'm impressed. If this the quality that we can expect for AI-generated quicksand videos in the coming years then I will be very pleased indeed.

As I hinted at in my reply to Darth Mau's opening post, times are a-changing and the pioneering work of the video producers who served the QS community so well should be held in high honour. Fondly remembered and inducted into a kind of Hall of Fame, if one existed for quicksand fetishism.

Thanks,

Redjak.

DarthMau wrote:Greetings everyone. With the news that the Soft Dangers stores are closing, I realized that Studio588 is the only one still producing scenes; all the others (judging by the Producers section of this forum) have retired or disappeared. As for MPV, which still has an active store, they are no longer producing new videos. This isn't a complaint; I’m just wondering what the future holds for this community.

At first, we were loners who hid our hobby or fetish out of shame or fear of being labeled weird, and we took scenes from movies, series, and animations we watched in theaters, on television, and on home video. Then came the internet, with websites and forums where we all connected and—for the first time—felt that we weren't weirdos, realizing there were others who shared our tastes and fetishes. Later, online stores began offering amateur-produced scenes; I remember the Quicksand Page was the first webpage I found with the quicksand theme as a hobby.

But time passes and things change; we get older, producers retire, and studios close. I understand how complicated it is to set up a scene and clean it all up the next day, especially when be older and sometimes doing it alone, without any help. Today, the only ones still producing videos are Studio588 and a group of guys from Ukraine called QS4Ever, who have made some great videos. Now, the advent of AI and easy access to video generation tools allow us to create our own scenes. We no longer need to dig up our backyards, hire actresses, or buy expensive materials to create quicksand; a well-crafted prompt and some visual references of our character are all it takes to generate the desired scene (the image of the girl in my profile picture is an AI creation).

This might spark a debate about the future of quicksand scene productions... What lies ahead for us as consumers? Will we shift from buying from the remaining producers to generating our own scenes using AI? I’d love to read your comments. [link removed]

I think as long as AI image production is a “you pays your money and you takes your chance” kind of thing, where you get everything right in your prompt, but still end up with somebody with nine fingers on each hand and a leg growing out of their ear, and voiceover mispronouncing even simple words (and there’s really no sign of it getting better), there will always be a place for real person video makers like MPV, Studio588, etc. There’s nothing that destroys the moment more than a woman saying “Help! I’m caught in quicksand!” like she’s a cheerleader, or a flight attendant reading the safety foldout. It’s not the creator’s fault; it’s just that AI will never have the soul or emotional capacity that a human does. Watch any video on social media channels that have an AI voiceover, and you’ll see a ton of complaints about it. You think it’s a real person until it pronounces M*A*S*H as “mahz hole,” or sounds like it’s speaking in tongues.
