Re: Anniversary of Sorts - Anybody Else?
I don't remember the exact date for me, other than it was the late 8o's. I typed in quicksand to a search engine and Kaol and Messyfun came up and i knew i wasn't alone in my interest

Somewhere in the late '70's, certainly no later than 1980, I encountered an ad for AMFEM magazine in the back of a mudwrestling magazine I think it was and the AMFEM had some sort of ad relating to mudwrestling which in turn led to my contacting James Reid in Memphis who operated a snail mail VHS mud clip tape hub trading group and between that group and an ad in AMFEM, I started meeting other mud fetishists in person. Once o those was Rob Blaine and I eventually got him to both start producing mud videos and to create the Messy Fun newsletter and provide for contact ads in it which in turn led to the a much larger mud fetish network.

And this was the Muddy Brick Road that I cam stumbling down.
Thank you for doing your part.
Rob, for all of his foibles, was social minded enough to forward mail through Messy News. He was all about his mailing list in those days (and rightfully so), but those Messy News 'boxes' really helped the rest of us out.

Re: Anniversary of Sorts - Anybody Else?
Breath taking.

I got some copies of Splosh magazine right after stumbling into this and it was a small ad in there that put me on to what Messyfun was really about. That led to some regular correspondence with Rob and I think the BBS at MPV. That much happened so quickly and under such secrecy that it's all a bit fuzzy now.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

Re: Anniversary of Sorts - Anybody Else?
I would say it was '97 or '98 when I thought to type "Quicksand" into my search browser and of course ran into Kaol's page.
"HELP! I'M SINKING IN QUICKSAND!"
*omg volume down down down*
Pretty much the same reaction as other members. For the longest time I had thought I was some kind of sex freak with serious mental problems and it was such a relief to know I was not alone. And so began an epic journey that is ongoing to this day......

Yea, it's almost hard to overstate the significance of this.
There's probably a generational aspect to this. But I had roughly sixteen years in as a serious QS Kinkster, thinking I was a singular oddball in the universe. Don't know if that's a blessing or a curse.

Re: Anniversary of Sorts - Anybody Else?
For me being a mud fetishist is a matter of coming to terms with what I am now and how I got there. However, there is more to that than Popeye's "I yam what I yam and dat's all what I yam" as though I am very aware of the downside of being a mud fetishist, there are things I can do with that awareness to mitigate some of that and have other options in life beyond "dat's all what I yam". Yet it is all based first on acceptance of the hand you've been dealt and then playing it as best you can.
I would prefer to have had some sort of insight that would have allowed me other options than being a mud fetishist. Even being able to have chosen an easier more mainstream fetish would be have been nice. But that's not how it works as one did not become a mud fetishist simply because one encountered mud, there is usually a family dynamic involved as well as the inherent delayed adulthood upon which modern industrial societies are based on.
