In a break with tradition Redjak secured Kaitlyn's arms in front of her, using a steel-reinforced leather body sack. This was because he wanted to play a cruel trick on her as the mud filled up the drowning chamber. Having sealed her face under a mask of plaster of Paris he made sure that she couldn't see or hear. He tightly gagged her beforehand and this, combined with the small size of her breathing holes, ensured that she was efficiently silenced.
Padded bondage mitts were fitted over her hands and then her wrists were tied with nylon cord. This meant that she couldn't use her fingers in any way to untie or unbuckle herself.
As a kind of sick joke at Kaitlyn's expense Redjak dangled a key that would unlock the chamber in front of her, just above her clumsy mittens. Even if she could have seen it her arms were held so rigidly in place that she couldn't have reached up the few inches to grab it. If she could have grabbed it the padded mitts wouldn't have let her hold it properly and use it. Even if she could have used it, the keyhole was located out of reach, too high up the wall of the chamber for her to bend her arms upwards.
She was held in statue-like immobility by the leather and steel cocoon that encased her. It creaked a little from time to time as she tested its strength, but it yielded only a fraction of an inch in any direction. It wasn't long before the mud rose up over her mittens and she lost the one impossible chance of gaining her freedom.
But she wasn't to know that. Trapped in the darkness and silence Kaitlyn waited for the inevitable end.
