I remember seeing these commercials back on TV in 2003 and being super excited for some sort of quicksand challenge, but unfortunately it was only in the promo.

If I recall correctly, no one on the show ever encountered quicksand, did they?

They never had a challenge like that on the actual show. However, each celebrity did a promo commercial for the show, so Downtown Julie Brown did an entire commercial that has her sink into the quicksand. I have been scouring the web trying to find it for years now with no luck.

IIRC, the only things that sink into the mud are (high heel?) shoes and cell phones, around the commercial breaks.
