Yep, Big Outage There

Hi Folks,

Well, yea, this has been a serious outage. I understand how inconvenient it has been for our regular visitors. So, on behalf of our hosting provider, I apologize.

Starting Friday morning last, they blocked access to quicksandfans due to excessive traffic. I started calling them on Saturday and have spent roughly an hour each day on the phone with them since then.

Along the way, I brought in a third party firewall (which will definitely help down the road).

I can't promise that there won't be more downtime in the near future. Even as I type this, SSL is not working, so they are still making changes.

If there are any lingering issues tomorrow morning, I will be on the phone with them once again.

Yea, I did mention the SSL issue in my post.

It seems like they can't get SSL (https/encryption/etc) to work without having the redirect issue pop up. My suspicion is that the mitigation team didn't do proper housecleaning. At least they seem to be doing stuff without me being on the phone.

Sigh.

Same here! I knew that the website was getting closer to becoming operational again when I was finally able to access the splash page a day ago, but when I tried to "Go Under" (enter), I got the redirect problems. Now it is cleared up, and things are back to normal again!
