Due to rising water along rivers, a lot of people not all that far from Studio 588 are under an evacuation order. This includes low-lying areas as nearby as Conway, AR, which is just 65 miles away.
I don't think we have many members who may be affected - I don't know of any - but if we do those people may wish to consider Studio 588 as an evacuation destination. Just make contact.

Most of Conway will be fine. There are some low lying areas along the Arkansas River that will be flooded. If it matter to you, Studio 588 is 65 miles from Conway.

Re: Flood Evacuation
The flood threat continues around here. Another 2 to 4 inches of rain is forecast for tonight and tomorrow. Actually there are two kinds of flood issues here in Arkansas. One is the rise of large rivers (Arkansas River in this state) due to snowmelt and heavy spring rain. This is effecting low-lying areas near the rivers involved. The other is flash flooding of smaller rivers due to heavy rain combined with already saturated ground. This may affect many places quite close to Studio 588. The Studio itself, however, is near the top of a rather high hill so there is no direct risk here.

I’m in Missouri, and even though it’s different this time, I can’t stop thinking about the Flood of 1993.

Re: Flood Evacuation
The total rainfall from the series of storms that have just (I think) finished, over a period of about 30 hours, was 4.25 inches in my rain gauge here at Studio 588. The only immediate effect, here, will be a delay of a day or so in preparing the pits and grounds. An extra mowing will probably be needed and pits are best left alone when this wet.

Re: Flood Evacuation
This is getting ridiculous!
Although the Studio 588 location itself has not been affected, cities along the Arkansas River have been getting a 500 year flood (read: all time record high water) for several days. I believe it crested yesterday just south of Conway. At the same time the weather forecast shows rain today and for the next EIGHT days (its an eight-day forecast). Actually the rain probability, hour by hour, is only 35 to 50 percent for most of that time but the forecast is also saying that some locations may see an additional 5 inches of rain.
Studio 588 is, of course, near the top of a hill that is about 800 feet higher than, say, Conway. Is it too early to change the name of the location to Studio 588 Island and start offering beachfront property?

Re: Flood Evacuation
My area (North Texas) had 3" of rain in a 30 minute period on Saturday! It was raining so hard at one point that I could not see the road from my front window, and that's only a 100 foot distance!
And, to think, only seven years ago in this area we were in a drought with lakes all but dried up. Now they are all at 100%+ capacity. Most of them are at flood stage and have been that way for weeks!
It just goes to show how cyclical the weather is. We go through these weather patterns all the time. Dry, wet, dry wet... Hot, cold, hot, cold...
But this current pattern sure messes with the mud play times! Hard to find mud when everything is under water!

There's actually more mud than during drier weather. Its right there under the water.
