A number of years ago, I did experiment with discarded flour and water, making a thick goo in a bucket, setting a stone on the surface, and watching it slowly sink out of sight before pulling it back out. After a while, it separated, with the water on top and the deteriorated flower on the bottom. The smell of it was horrendous, like the stinkiest cheese you could imagine!

I used to play with slime when I was a kid back in the '70's. They would come in tiny plastic garbage cans. But, the stuff I wound up with turned out to be bad. Normally, it was a jellylike slime that wasn't sticky, and oozed nicely, and fun to play with. But the stuff I got was thinner, stickier, and full of crystals.

I left it outside down in the field by the north fence for months (or was it a year), and no change. When I finally needed the bucket, I cleaned the stinky stuff out, and it took ages for the smell to leave the bucket!
