Can anyone think of any secular reason to ban vibrators?

Well, if some women want to exercise all the pussy power at home and keep their men out of strip clubs, it stands to reason that some men may yearn to keep all the penis power at home and get rid of vibrators, especially if they're cylindrical in shape!

Talk of religion is banned here...but if you re-classify the reasons as "emotional" vs. "rational", I can't think of many sex taboos that are rational. As long as you're talking about safe, sane, consenting adults, just about all of the taboos are emotional.

Mostly, it's these three.

A) "It makes me jealous!" (Women trying to keep men out of strip clubs and men trying to get rid of vibrators)

and

I read every post in this thread with great interest. There are certainly some people out there who would be fine with even the most primitive robot companion. Ever see the 1987 craptacular classic Cherry 2000? It's about a guy who goes searching for an exact replacement for his robot girlfriend and instead falls for the hired gun played by Melanie Griffith. His android squeeze is already "perfect" but still lacking that spontaneity craved by more sophisticated lovers.

As Nessie menitoned, just like good ol' Cherry, it may not be possible for even the most perfect companion to remain the sole focus of your daily life. I love a woman and I love women. They're a lot of fun to play with and some of them hold views that can be very different from what you've been told is acceptable at home. I've come around to thinking that our Muslim and Mormon brethren may have it right and that it is possible to actually love several women at once and interact with them all in a faithful fashion. That actually worked when I was young and dating too but once I was legally wed the rules changed. I'm pretty sure that having a sex robot would violate those rules too and honestly it's just not the same as the real thing. Learning from your partner is a cool experience and it's going to be a while before the machinery gets that good. I can say with greater confidence that bringing one home would probably result in android clockwork scattered all over the yard by spousal violence.

Some people just want sex and some people want women/men. Protecting the rights of the marriage contract is one thing but making a device illegal isn't going to accomplish much.
