But Redjak being Redjak just likes to make things even nastier for the girls he sinks.

Clearly these two gals can't converse meaningfully with one another. But let's fantasize for a moment and pretend that they can. Their conversation might then run a bit like this.

"Oh shit! I've just worked out who that hooded guy is and where we are."

Hazel
"What? Who is he? Where are we then?"

J
"Look at all the mud around here. It's everywhere. Did you see it when he was carrying you over his shoulder? All over the floors, on the walls, in every corridor and in the elevator. I saw a sign saying, QUICKSAND PIT 5 as he was carrying me. Mud and quicksand? Here, deep underground? Don't you get it?"

"Wait! You don't mean...? That guy the police want to catch? The serial killer? Him?"

J
"Yep! He's Redjak. They call him the Quicksand Killer because he ties up and gags girls and sinks them in quicksand pits. They reckon he's killed almost fifty girls. He's batshit crazy! A real psycho! And now he's got us! We're in his secret hideout!"

H
"Fuck! So he's going to end us in the same way? Drowning us in quicksand? We've got to escape somehow! Shit! I can't move my hands. He's wrapped them up in duct tape. What about you?"

J
"Same here. It's no good. I can't get free. Waitaminute! Didn't he say that he was going to mummify us in duct tape? That's where he's gone. To get more of the stuff. So we've got to escape before he comes back. Once he mummifies us it'll be too late. Remember what the police said on the tv? He likes to sink mummified girls in quicksand. So once he's mummified us he'll put us in the quicksand. Quick! Can't you get loose?"

H
"No. No, I can't. But there's no point struggling, is there?"

J
"Whaddaya mean? No point? Have you gone crazy? Do you WANT to die?"

H
"We're locked inside a cell with steel bars, hon. Even if we got loose we'd still be trapped in here. Then he'd just chloroform us all over again, wrap us up and we'd still end up in the quicksand. It's a no-win situation. We're screwed."

J
"No. No! No!"

H
"Oh no! Here's he is!"

Redjak reappears, carrying a large burlap sack over one shoulder. He unlocks the cell, enters and locks it behind him. Closely watching both girls he takes his time and empties the contents of the sack, one by one, onto the muddy floor.

A dozen large reels of industrial-strength duct tape.
Five large coils of nylon rope.
A bottle of chloroform and some pads of folded cloth.
A pack of fifty large size zip-ties.
A knife with a retractable blade.
Two extra large ball gags.


And then it begins.

How about some kind of slasher movie?

A bunch of girls are on vacation and their car breaks down in a remote place. There's no phone coverage and they start disappearing, one by one. We see what the madman does to them (bound, gagged and sunk in quicksand) but the remaining girls are clueless, increasingly spooked and desperate to escape. When there's only one left she discovers the killer's hideout and from what she sees there, pieces together what happened to her friends. The madman suddenly chloroforms her and she wakes up bound and gagged. Then it's off to his quicksand pit. He tosses her and she starts to sink. When she's neck deep and it looks like she's going to join her friends she hears the sound of police sirens getting closer.

Will she be saved in time? Or is this just a cruel trick by the killer to raise her hopes and then dash them?

If it's a true horror film, then the sound of police sirens would have to be a cruel trick (e.g., a recording of sirens coming nearer) to give the girl false hope; otherwise it would just be a Lifetime movie.
