They didn't tell a story, it was just "Pretty girl(S) in dress clothing and Ludicrous heels -> plop in mud."
Almost no Drama ever, and some of them were clipped and rearranged so that the sinking wasn't linear.
Worst still, was the school girl outfit video. Carrie was striking poses, holding them, and a camera was Snapping away.

No drama, no story, and well... that damn noise.

I quite like the Arch Enemys videos as they're what got me into the whole quicksand and sinking thing when chatting to a guy online, ooh I guess over a year ago now. But then I guess I just like the consistency of the clay in those quarries, all grey and thick and gunky.

I don't think I saw the schoolgirl outfit one though. :?:

To be honest I'm not sure I mind who is in the quicksand as I'm usually focussing on that and how it looks or moves? Some look very real, others not. It's all about the realism of it really, even if quicksand is just something of a fantasy to me.
Oh tosh! Tanya retorted, quicksand churning,
Round her knees, then thighs, then oh dear!
It got intimate with her hips and her panties,
And squished rather funnily up her rear!

My dislike would be bad acting or quick sinking. They need to take their time sinking to build up drama and they need to care about what they are acting in. I do not like videos without any form of drama. There arent many oobleck videos with drama or actors acting scared or baffled by the stuff. I dislike struggle when it is the actress just obviously trying sink herself under. They need to at least try to escape. Another dislike would be timws when people are sinking but they do not show any signs of innocence. I do not like videos that are five minutes of aimless wandering with like 3 minutes of sinking. I do not want any signs of an actual camera which means no talking to the camera or vise versa. I do not at all want to see a man on camera. I like hints that a guy is watching them sink but not to see the actual guy. I hate when they sink slowly and when it gets to their neck theypull themselves under. I like equal pacing. I dont like overdone makeup. I want the actress to look as if they werent purposefully trying to find quicksand and sink to death. Always keep scenes dramatic. Make it build.

My likes would be unique things like oobleck or hollywood quicksand. I like watching hot actresses displaying some form of clevage and drama rolling throughout all of it. I like and want more videos of actresses who think that theyve escaped only to be dragged back under. I like videos that catch my interest before i even see anything more than a picture. One thing i love and definitely want is times when they think their clothes are dragging them down so they take thwm off only to find out that it doesnt work. I like the idea of someone watching and masturbating as the actress realizes that it is happening. The added part of cum that jumpoff joe has added in some videos is truely awesome. I also like actresses who act truely scared and dont even know that this is quicksand or figure it out when its too late. I like when they are grossed out with how wet and sticky the quicksand is.

A few people have said they dislike music in videos, but I'd like to disagree and say that I have LOVED the music in Jim Weathers' bondagecafe videos. (Such as the O-Girl scenes.) The videos try to be like ultra-sexy versions of 60s Batman episodes, and the music totally sells that idea. The music goes perfectly with the intentionally cheesy dialogue from the supervillains. Hell, I don't even mind the fact that many of the scenes use the same music - you'd often get music tracks re-used in actual old TV shows, so it seems pretty authentic.

I got into this fetish thanks to watching quicksand in TV shows and movies (the same goes for many other people here). So I love the types of scene that are like classic movies or TV shows, except they are like versions of those scenes specially tailored to our interest. Quicksand scenes that last 10 minutes rather than 2 minutes, added bubbling and sucking and slurping noises to make the quicksand into a Hollywood-style sucking death trap, super tight/revealing costumes that are like ultra-eroticised versions of classic heroes and villians like batgirl and catwoman, and overt references to sex or masturbation etc. Totally ticks all my boxes.

I guess you could call them porn parodies, except I find Jim Weathers' stuff to be a lot better than the mainstream porn parodies that are out there!

I introduced my girlfriend to my fetish by showing her the Angela Sommers / Barbara Gordon scene, as well as an O-Girl scene. Sexy outfits, sexy moaning and sexy struggling, campy dramatic music and laughing evil villains. The 60s TV vibe meant that she didn't find it at all creepy, in fact she found them enjoyable to watch! It was a fun, kinky fantasy involving a damsel in distress in a deep messy peril, rather than a sinister thing about drowning. Next I showed her MPV's "Lost her Grip" scene... even though that is a "grim" ending, she was able to appreciate that since it was a case of death by orgasm! What's not to like?! And then MPV's "Remember that time?", where a girl talks about all the nearly-deadly "accidents" she's had on trips with her husband, before going into a quicksand bog as part of his supposed kinky fantasy. She totally cracked up at the dark humour.

The thing is, I didn't have to think hard to find those "newbie-friendly" scenes to show her to avoid freaking her out... as they happened to be some of my favourite scenes anyway! I guess I'm a bit of a softie, so I prefer some campy quicksand peril to an ultra-dark grim scenario where a great actress is able to sell the idea that she's just died while screaming in terror.

The only real "dislike" I have is when videos have a chorus of cicada bugs are "singing" very loudly throughout the whole thing.

If you're referring to nighttime scenes, it's not just cicadas.

For a while, I thought that the sound of tree frogs was the sound of the South, at night. Fortunately though, it seems to be a localized thing.

It seems to me that the real sounds of the forest contribute to the realism of the scene.

I agree with Fred. The cicadas and frogs do add to the realism of the scene, especially if there happens to be sounds of cars driving by on a nearby highway in the background. The forest/swamp sounds are so much better than traffic sounds.

I was actually referring more to the daytime scenes. Like Stormy's Hangover Cure (which I recently purchased off of UMD), a good scene but in the first half all I could hear were cicadas haha.

I get that, but I liken the cicada noises (and various other noises for that matter) to the extra noise the mic picks up when you try to record a live concert. Our bodies/ears naturally tune out or downplay some noises if when we're actually present at the event, but the cameras and microphones pick up everything.

I would have to say talking out loud during an accidental sink takes away the believably of the scene, though some members seem to prefer it. "This must be quicksand" or "It's up to my thighs now" are fine for intentional or staged sinks, but have no place in a moment of severe distress.

I guess the best example of a realistic scene to me are the ones performed by Kelli on the "Quicksand Terrors" dvd (my favorite). She stumbles into real quicksand, gets caught and starts to fight and struggle to get free in a believable manner as she gradually sinks. Sadly, most of the others had too much scripted speech except for Danielle's scenes, which were also well done and almost as believable as Kelli's.

When I see a post for a new dvd and I see nothing but watery peat and "Hollywood" quicksand in it, I just move on. That's just me, I guess. My eye for detail is also at times my curse.

Please correct me if I am incorrect, but I suspect what you are describing as objectionable is what might be called "narrating" rather than just "talking out loud". To my vocabulary, narrating means describing what is happening rather than acting it out, and talking out loud would be any form of audible speech. "Its up to my thighs now" would, I think, almost certainly be narration but "this must be quicksand," would not necessarily be, depending on vocal emotion.
