You are speaking locally as a forum rule. I was speaking generally net-wide as a rule law enforcement might follow for reasons given. I guess we were on different pages. Call it my bad.

You do have a point there though, BogDog. Maybe there should be a rule against deep fakes on this forum. I do not like the thought of what might happen if a celebrity found a fake of themselves on this site. It could bring a lot of unwanted attention and even law suits to this place.

This isn't wrong, but by the same logic, the forum should therefore implement an umbrella ban on all fan works using copyrighted characters (e.g. video game characters), as fan works are generally considered to be in violation of copyright law and companies could sue the community for enabling the sharing of fan creations using their IP.

On the other hand, deep fakes themselves are generally not illegal. The laws that are in place generally cover pornographic material. Additionally, if this was a legitimate concern, this would cover all use of a celebrity's likeness, including photomanipulations.

Frankly, I'd find it bizarre that anyone would target QSF before major art sites like DeviantArt. I'd understand if there was a precautionary step due to actions taken against art communities.

I personally have some fundamental rules.

First, I will ask permission. If I can't, I will
give due credit. My AI recent Muddy Model
rendering should be a clear example of due
credit. I will not utilize an image of those
involved directly in QS and WAM productions.

Second, I do have a certain respect for a
few performers, especially those I have
met. Two of them have performed in the
WAM scene. I won't utilize their images
at all. This is a personal value.

Third, I won't be afraid to perform remakes
of the older productions. I have in mind to
perform a remake of an early 1950s scene
from the film noir. I thought the scene could
be made more believable and elaborated.
I have experimentation ahead of me.

After some thought, I think we'll just leave the rules thing alone for a while.

Considering the low volume of material being posted, scrutiny for scrutiny's sake is what we seem to have here.

I'm just going to ask that we continue to have some good manners. After all, there are rules, and then there are manners. ;)

Some manners should be enforced rules these days ;) They seem to be more scarce now than I recall. Karens everywhere on Youtube!

NOTE that is is a good idea to leave watermarks intact, else someone could screen capture the image from your vids with no watermarks. They can be a distraction in a short movie but none-the-less... Credit where credit due.

Of course with AI these days you could probably remove a watermark from an image now without a trace of it ever being there but I still prefer to leave them visible in my vids if one was present previously, if anything just to show that I am not trying to take credit for the original still.
