Reporters Quicky Sanders and VIcky Marsh are on the trail of stolen goods, hidden in a grotto. Sneaking in at low tide, they navigate through dangerous quicksand, only to be trapped by a rockslide. Stranded in quicksand, they argue over how to escape. Will they risk being captured?

This is a 2+ minute TV-style scene, fully voiced.

Reporter Quicky Sanders is hot on the heels of criminal syndicate lawyer Eva Carvicchi. Eva lands in quicksand, but some clever negotiating turns the tables on Sanders. Will Sanders be able to escape?

This animation is a particular milestone for me. This is based on my first and only digital art comic:

I've come to terms with AI being a writer's tool more so than an artist's, at least for me. AI has allowed me to put my concepts and ideas into motion - first with AI digital art and AI photography, now with the equivalent in film-making.

Sanders and Vicky have been run off the road, but left to survive on their own as a warning. The pair treks through the forest. The follow the stream, hoping to find a way back to civlisation, but all they find is quicksand.

It's virtually impossible. It's hard for the AI to understand exactly how to slow a scene down and how to manipulate exact movements. My approach to this is more traditional "movie magic" where I keep the depth the same with some minor movement, cut to another frame, then cut back to continue the sequence. But as a pure sinking sequence, it's too random. Most of the time the subject faceplants.

I haven't made a video for a while, so I'm a little rusty. Since Kling 2.0 is unsustainable and generally not worth the cost, I'm sticking with 1.6. The biggest win in this product was the interior of the plane - I successfully used the elements feature to combine the character and empty plane seat to generate the scene of her looking out through the window. The rest is using generated images as sources for animation.

Rebecca stumbles into a jungle hotspot. Fleeing from hostile natives, she becomes trapped in quicksand. An opportunistic adventurer offers a way out, but the jungle reveals its true hierarchy. Now left topless and sinking deeper, what sacrifices will Rebecca make for her freedom?

Safari Girl: Last Frontier

The original was made about 9 months ago. This is an updated take using the newer animation tools. The old animation was generated with images using Stable Diffusion - Epic Realism, animated with RunwayML Gen-3, mostly as a proof of concept.

This version is a test run of Kling AI 2.1, with images made with Stable Diffusion SDXL - Crystal Clear XL.

Overall, Kling 2.1 has excellent dynamic scenes, as shown in the running sequences and dynamic camera. However, it struggles more with mud textures. I'm generally happy with 2.1 for filler scenes and cinematic sequences, but it's very hard to work with for specific scene requests.

A field trip goes wrong. A teacher looks for lost students, but stumbles into a deadly pit of sinking sand. The students bumble in, unable to free themselves. Will they manage to escape?

Remake of my previous Field Trip video, now using Kling 2.1.

I might revise my opinion of Kling 2.1. While it struggles more with watery mud, it's actually surprisingly good at sand textures. This is a pretty big win for dry quicksand fans.
