A friend put me on to this on Twitter. Apparently Hurricane Milton has put at least a couple of feet of sand over some pools on the coast. Know what I'm thinking?

Truth is, sand doesn't float. I expect under the diving board on any of those pools is 10 feet of solid sand but dang, the images I get from thinking about it.

Sand deposited by moving water could be loose, forming quicksand, just like on river banks, so swimming pools could be full of quicksand after a hurricane. 8-)

As has been said, its' probably all packed down, but it sure does get the imagination going. Maybe a lady in a bikini will also think it innocuous, only to walk across and discover it's not as firm as it looks :P

I hate to mention it knowing how devastating they are, but Another thing that sometimes intrigues me is mudslide mud, although, it probably has a lot of debris, sticks and twigs and things. But if only a harmless mudslide could fill an isolated, deep ravine; especially one within walking distance of my house :P

The sand filling a swimming pool from floodwaters is not necessarily completely packed. You could most likely find quicksand in the upstream side of the swimming pool, as long as there is a steep side there where the moving water and sand is first entering the swimming pool, allowing for a pocket of water or extremely loose sand to form underneath along the wall. 8-)
