Since I started living in Weston super Mare several years ago, I confess that nowadays I always find it amusing how many tourists still get themselves / their cars stuck in/on the beaches around this area!
Obviously they miss out on the dozens of news stories each season regarding muddy mishaps, it seems.
Of course, owing to the publicity this part of the country gets from people getting stuck, it actually limits the opportunities for going out 'with the intention' of playing in the mud! Lots of eagle-eyed locals looking for people in distress, and lots of coastguard hovercrafts etc. on patrol.

Where is the spirit of free enterprise. Some entrepreneur ought to set up a seasonal business offering people the experience of getting trapped in quicksand, but under supervised conditions so they can be extracted quickly when they have had enough.

Obviously they all need to watch the episodes of Man Vs. Wild where Bear demonstrates how to get out of said boggy ground/quicksand.
