Thanks for the link.

Have we ever identified the first b/w clip with the guy just after the opening titles? I know where all the others are from, but just never seen the full version of that one or even know what it is from.

Shooting that was quite an adventure and a special treat for me. From my days as a wannabe photojournalist I dreamed of working for National Geographic. Of course this only happens to a very small number of the very best and I wasn't about to be one of those so I jumped at the chance to be part of this. It's been long enough I guess so attached are photos of the documentary crew as well as some participating members here. Chuck Lang, Bomber, Michael Marriman (James DeGriz) are all gone now.

It was the documentary makers first encounter with the real thing so we had a little fun. The best part was when the leader of the group first sank suddenly to knee deep as Chuck led us through a spot. She grabbed Chuck's arm and very emphatically told him "GET ME OUT OF HERE NOW!" :o It really scared her when the ground wouldn't let go of her. We all laughed and she got over it but it remains a great memory.

Yea, it's kind of hard to look at that last photo.

I only met Michael once.

You could write a book about Chuck and how he influenced everything we have as a community. He was really fun to be around.

But Don (in the orange shirt) was the guy that I got to know pretty well. We spent a lot of time on the phone, and shared some experiences in California and Illinois. He is missed, as are Chuck and Michael. RIP guys.

Meanwhile, thank you for the link.

I tried to buy this on DVD once. But one day when I made the commitment to, they pulled it off their site store. Needless to say that I was quite vexed about it.

I had never seen this before; thanks for posting the link. I especially appreciated the matter-of-fact approach to quicksand, even the fetish aspect of it.
