Scene recap:

The series takes place a dystopian America. In this episode, the "Scar" (the cataclysmic crack in the ground) emanates a gas that causes hallucinations - the mutated townspeople see what they want to see: themselves as a perfectly normal American town. The town preacher has the cure for their disease, but withholds it, using the hallucinogenic gas to keep the townspeople under his power. The female lead, Grace, is captured by the preacher. The male lead, Arthur, is affected by the gas, and thinks he is being married to one of the women in the town.

The host of the titular "Blood Drive", Julian, arrives to sort out the mess. He discovers the reality of the town and fills the crack under the church with cement to stop the gas. Meanwhile, Grace is thrown under the altar as a sacrifice. She lands in the pit, which is now filling up with cement. Her initial entry is very shallow, landing on her side and partially covered by the grey clay-like goo.

Later, Julian barges in on Arthur's "wedding". The gas leak is stopped, and Arthur realises the reality. He is pushed down into the same pit. He goes complete under. Grace, now up to her waist, heaves him back up. Arthur and Grace attempt to climb out, but the rocky walls are too slippery. Arthur is armput-deep while Grace is up to her ribs. Grace drops the line: "It's like quicksand. The more you struggle, the harder it gets". There isn't much struggling or sinking involved; the scene is paced to look more like the characters are stopping themselves from being pulled down by the thick cement.

Julian appears at the top of the hole and banters with the two leads. After the break, the scene briefly shows the crack from the outside filling with cement, with a quick close-up of the cement climbing the rocky walls by a few inches. Grace is now up to her chest and Arthur up to his neck. After another cut in the action, we see another shot of the outside crack nearly filled, and the cement rising inside again. Grace is up to the top of her chest. Grace and Arthur exchange a romantic dialogue. Grace lets her self drop to her shoulders and neck so that they can kiss. After a dramatic scene above, Julian returns to find the two submerged. He calls out to them, and their hands appear with a thumbs up.

The sequence ends with the pair already out and covered in dried cement walking to their car.

Overall, not much of a sinking scene, but the grey ooze has a starchy oobleck look to it. Nice ambient noise with the focus on drama.

I found this link last night:

https://meryana.net/blood-drive/01x10

The scene starts at the 30 minute mark.

I think the screenwriters neglected to account for the caustic chemical nature of cement, and, for that matter, the noncombustible chemical nature of human blood.

As a side note, this has to be one of the most bizarre and horrifying television shows currently broadcast. Who thinks of all this sh!t? Who watches it? Why?

The Internet Movie Database (IMDb) notes in its trivia section for this show:

The SyFy Channel had set up a complaint line for viewers to call and vent/complain what was offensive to them. Calling this number gave you choices on which was most disturbing. The voice on the recording is that of Slink. (325) 400-3423 is the hotline for "Blood Drive."

I called the number, and it was a hoot, though I disconnected without listening to all the options or making any selections.

The same could be said for the content made available here. I'm surprised you haven't jumped out in every thread to shout "BUT QUICKSAND DOES NOT SUCK YOU DOWN. WHAT KIND OF SICKOS WATCH PEOPLE SINK IN QUICKSAND THAT IS OBVIOUSLY NOT QUICKSAND BUT SAWDUST ON WATER???".

Suspense of disbelief. Millions are happy to watch dead walking around or an island with a smoke monster. After seeing you flip the **** out over Ramez Underground, it's clear that you don't follow along with this "TV" thing. Just go with it, or don't watch it.

It's a "So Bad It's Good" B-Movie made into a TV series.....by the Scy-Fi channel. I was expecting them to be rescued by Sharktopus but a deranged Willy Wonka works too.

Thanks for the link. If I can find a few minutes I'm anxious to see what we got here.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.
