Quicksand Fans

Horror films have offered many scenes where a person was hopelessly sucked into quicksand. Although this keeps its mystery, scientists were able to determine how these mixtures of sand and water are in motion and swallow everything that comes along. They also determined the places in the world where the shifting sands are, and explain how to extract. Survivors and relatives of victims recount their experience this terrifying force of nature. The spectacular images of the rescue of a horse by helicopter crown this immersion in a strange universe, as fascinating as dangerous.

They seem to make better documentaries across the pond. Just watched a whole UK series on the Industrial Revolution and loved every minute- but then I watched a History Channel episode on the history of machine tools, and not only was it dumbed down, but factually incorrect, and badly presented to boot.

It may be true, but in this case, isn't it the same "Danger Quicksand" by National Geographic that we all know and some well-known members of the forum even took part in making it? I watched only the very beginning and it seemed the same to me (only translated into French - but I have seen it translated into Russian as well...).

I believe most foreign documentaries are created to educate people. Here in the U.S. it is considered incorrect not to appeal to the lowest common denominator. This might also explain the slide of our political system but I don't want to wander off topic.

As for the National Geographic Danger Quicksand documentary, yes, there were several of us involved. The opening narration is my voice as are the skinny legs slogging through the gunk you see. I also did the camera work as the scene descends below the surface. It was interesting and we made every effort to help throughout the production. They seemed most interested in the subject as a natural phenomena and keeping it clean for broadcast television.
