According to the information at the bottom of the first page, the publication posted here is called "Ghostly Haunts", Volume 10, Number 58, released in April, 1978.

But, looking further, it is reprinted material, copyright 1971, 1973.

Indeed. According to Wiki, #58 was the last issue of the series.

Meanwhile, I stumbled across this:

RE: Sgt. Rock- A Bazooka round vs. the frontal armor on a Tiger I? (( web search )) Wow. A Bazooka round was just barely powerful enough to penetrate the 100mm frontal armor on the Tiger 1. The low-velocity 75mm gun on most Shermans wouldn't even scratch it.

That was the advantage of a shaped-charge over a kinetic round; you didn't need a high-velocity gun to penetrate thick armor. The Germans even had handheld magnetic mines they would just run up and stick onto the side of a tank, with similar results.

Doesn't look like Sgt Rock is going to get a reload, though.

One of the best anti-tank weapons the Canadian Forces have is a simple rod of depleted uranium fired from a launcher. It doesn't penetrate; just hits so hard that the shockwave travels through the armor, and anyhthing loose inside (even paint chips) richocheted around and killed the crew.

So, yeah, I have no prolbem believing that at close range a bazooka could do the job.

Of course, against today's reactive armor it may be a different story.
