Re: Yet More Comic Book Sinking Scenes
Sometime back I'd posted links (either here or at the other forum, and haven't been able to find them as yet to repost here) that showed two images from a comic book featuring Wonder Woman stuck and sinking in a tar pit. There were only those two images, thus leaving us wondering whatever happened to Wonder Woman. Well...
For the heck of it, I did a Google search for, "Wonder Woman tar pit stuck," and came upon the following link at Comicvine.com...
http://www.comicvine.com/justice-league ... n/37-4989/
Apparently, those two images of Wonder Woman stuck in the tar pit are from the comic book, Justice League Of America #1, The World of No Return! published by DC Comics and released in November 1960. The cover of the comic book is shown on the Comicvine.com page.
If you use your computer's "Find" function and do a search for "Wonder Woman" or "tar" on this Comicvine.com page, you find the following...
Chapter two of our story begins as we find Wonder Woman trapped on a world filled with pre-historic monsters. As several try to attck her at once, the Amazon Princess sees a Pterodactyl as her means of escape. Tossing her magic lasso around the neck of the flying creature, she is momentarily lifted to safety. However, the Pterodactyl then turns on her, and Wonder Woman has to tie the other end of her lasso around a nearby tree and scramble to safety. Dropping to the ground, however, she suddenly finds herself in thick liquid tar. Author Gardner Fox always liked to include education with his entertainment, and here is some for this issue. The substance Wonder Woman finds herself sinking into is described as being like "the Lebrea Tar Pits of LA which have yielded up valuable scientific fossils". As Wonder Woman begins to sink deeper into the tar, she is suddenly given hope by the arrival of Superman. In no time the Man of Stee has freed her, and as they get their bearings, Superman uses his telescopic vision to see Batman and Jonn Jonzz on a nearby planet.
So, it appears Superman comes to Wonder Woman's rescue and frees her from the tar pit. Sounds like there could be additional scenes of Wonder Woman's sinking adventure. Additional Internet searches for the comic book, Justice League Of America #1, The World of No Return!, did not produce any results.
Anyway, I found this to be rather interesting and wanted to share it with you all.

Re: Yet More Comic Book Sinking Scenes
Been a loooong time since I've added to this. I have some new material to share, at long last.
A quicksand cover, an ad for Cream of Wheat and a comic panel make up this posting. More to follow later....
