Strange message about IP being blocked

Postby cerberus » Fri Oct 04, 2024 5:24 pm

A short while ago I was trying to post to the AI sub-forum and when I submitted my post I received a message saying my IP was blocked because it was blacklisted and included a link to Spamhaus for details. I checked my IP with Spamhaus but it reported no issues. Then a few minutes later I was able to post without any problems. The site wasn't showing any other issues, I could access all the threads etc, just wasn't allowed to post. Any ideas as to what happened?

It's just happened again tonight!

At the moment I can't even post this message, but a moment ago my post to the AI sub-forum submitted OK!

After about half an hour not being able to post, it's finally allowing me to post.

GoDaddy's firewall service, at your uh, service.

We'll be getting away from that within the next year - hopefully within the next six months.

Meanwhile, feel free to vent tech issues here. I am paying attention. :)

Not exactly that issue, but it almost seems on my end like someone is after this site. When I sign in on Google, very, very frequently the site locks up for no reason, with no message as to why. Later, I can sign in OK again, but again it locks up after a few minutes. However, when I sign in under Duck-Duck-Go, there haven’t been those problems. Does Google not like this site? Don’t know, though I am not a particularly savvy internet user. Rebooting my device has no positive effect.

This is not something I have encountered, and I am no expert, but I wonder if this might be related to a browser setting such as for "family safety."
Studio 588 currently offers more than 2200 different HD and QD quicksand videos and has supported production of well over 2400 video scenes and other projects by 20 different producers. Info may be found at:

If it has been a setting of some kind, you could repeat that.

I have encountered this a couple times the last days. A few hours later it's gone. This should be the same issue as that GoDaddy-one

Fred - thanks for the reply. I know in Google that I have Safesearch set “off” - I don’t know of any other security filter setting to change. In Duck-Duck-Go, Safesearch is also off, and I haven’t encountered the same issue, freezing after a few minutes on site. It’s a mystery, so I solve it by just avoiding Google when going to QSfans.

Hadn't considered myself to be venting, just reporting an issue I hadn't seen before.

It's just happened again by the way. The message I get is:

Your IP XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX has been blocked because it is blacklisted. For details please see http://www.spamhaus.org/query/bl?ip=XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX.

I'd Just successfully posted to my Off The Beaten Track thread successfully, went to post to the other and was blocked. I've checked spamhaus and it is reporting "no issues" with my I/P. That was 5:20 pm BST. 7:45pm BST managed to get next post submitted successfully. One more to go. Damn blocked again. 8:29pm third message posted.

Last night, I worked on a reply to the recent Tarzan thread, and decided to save it as a draft, and finish things the next day, because it was well after midnight. So, I logged off, closed Firefox, and shut the computer down. Shortly afterwards, I changed my mind, booted up the computer, fired up Firefox, logged into QuicksandFans, finished the post, and submitted it, and all was well. I logged out of QuicksandFans, closed Firefox, shut down my computer, and went to bed. But, I suddenly remembered one more thing to add, so I returned to the computer (it was already well after 1 am), booted it up, fired up Firefox, logged back into Quicksand Fans, clicked on the pencil icon, and made the addition to my posted reply. But, when I clicked the Submit button, I was returned to the same "Post a reply" page, but with a message added in red letters, saying that my IP was blocked because it was blacklisted. :x I clicked on the link to spamhaus.org, and got an error message saying that the ip address was invalid. I tried several times to submit my updated reply, but the same thing happened. :x So, around 1:20 am Pacific time, I gave up and shut everything down and went to bed.

Unlike the GoDaddy problem, where the message was on its own separate page, this spamhaus message is PART of the phpBB page. I don't know if the problem cropped up because I logged off and on the forum multiple times that evening, or if it happens after a certain time (I never experienced it before, but it has been ages since I posted things after 1 am), or if it is a combination of the two. :?
I sink, therefore I WAM!!!!

(((ioi)))
