The 3rd chapter of Isla Barrar Quicksand Date.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Morwenna & Ajax had escaped with their lives from Isla Barrar's Dread Swamp, having avoided being turned into plant food for the predatory pitcher plants that slept inside the peat bogs. Crossing a salt marsh, Morwenna & Ajax find reprieve for a small moment in the area, taking a moment to rest before they resume their trek across the isla. Nevertheless, Morwenna started to look out to the sea all the same. Ajax immediately noticed this.
"Hey, is something the matter?" He asked. Morwenna nodded. "Yeah..." She says. "I just... I probably never should've sailed today... Otherwise... I wouldn't be stuck here..." She went onto say. "Well, if you hadn't, I'd probably have been under this isla by now." Ajax says. "Well, that's a fair point..." Morwenna says. "But I sure wish I could've met you elsewhere... Somewhere... Safer." She goes onto say. Morwenna shakes her head soon afterward.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't be talking like a defeatist." She then says. "Nah, it's cool." Ajax replies. "It is?" Morwenna asks. Ajax nods, and then wrapped his arms around Morwenna. "After all, you did say it's not every day you get to hang with someone like me, right?" He asks her, smirking. Morwenna nodded, smirking back. "In quicksand mostly, but you're right." She answers, before wrapping her arms around Ajax after turning to look him straight in the face.
Yet Morwenna had a most brilliant idea. "Why don't we unwind on a beach instead of here~?" She asks Ajax. Ajax nodded. "That sounds like a nice idea." He said, smiling. Morwenna nodded, as she once more leads Ajax down across the isla. Morwenna had a keen eye for spotting good relaxation spots, and sure enough, she soon came upon a promising location. "Hey, I see a beach up ahead!" She exclaimed. "Where? I want to see!" Ajax says.
And sure enough, Morwenna pointed to a more coastal area. Where there was a coast, a beach was bound to be present. Morwenna & Ajax quickly made their way to the beach that the former had spotted, but the beach itself had a foreboding air to it. Morwenna & Ajax did not know it, but the beach they had stumbled upon was the Dire Beach. Though as to why the beach was called this was not known to Morwenna & Ajax, the two of them would know soon.
Nevertheless, Morwenna & Ajax set up shop so to speak, finding some ideal spots to relax on. "Sure wish I had beach towels for us to lie on instead of this sand..." Morwenna says. "I think we'll be okay." Said Ajax. "I sure hope so." Morwenna says. The two soon laid down on some cooler sand of the beach. "So uh..." Ajax starts, and Morwenna looks at him. "What do you plan to do once we get off this Isla?" He proceeds to ask. Morwenna looked away.
"First thing I'm going to do is find my kid siblings, and give them all big hugs." Morwenna answered. "I'm sure they're worried as hell about me..." She says. "I wouldn't blame them..." Ajax says. "What are they like exactly?" He asks. "Oh, they're just absolute sweethearts." Morwenna answers. "And they always know how to cheer one up if you're having a bad day." Morwenna sighs. "Gods I miss 'em..." She says, but refraining herself from crying.
Ajax planted a comforting hand on Morwenna's shoulder, easing her emotional tension. She noticed the gesture, and she smiled straight at Ajax. And he smiled right back at her. Then, from the corner of his eye, he spotted something. Sitting up, he got a closer look at what it may be, and he noted that it was a shell. "A shell?" He said, picking it up. Morwenna looked at the shell Ajax picked up. "A seashell, huh?" Morwenna asks. "You see them often?"
Ajax shook his head. "Not as often as you might." He answered. "Oh, right. You live in a desert that's probably miles away from the sea." Morwenna says. "Pretty much." Said Ajax. However, he eventually spotted more shells leading down to the coast of the beach, and he quickly got up on his feet. "Ajax, where're you going?" Asked Morwenna. "I'm going to see if there are nicer shells around." He says, just before leaving, much to Morwenna's befuddlement.
"I like his thrill for adventure," Said Morwenna. "But I hope to Poseidon he knows what he's doing." With that, Morwenna laid back down on the beach's surface. Ajax meanwhile scoured the the beach's shoreline, finding one seashell after another. Though what he wanted was a couple of big shells; big enough to pose as a bra for Morwenna while in Mermaid form. "Sheesh, they've got to be bigger somewhere around here..." He said in frustration.
Then, from the corner of his eye, he spotted exactly what he was looking for: A pair of shells that would fit Morwenna's breasts with ease if made into a bra. "Vars!! What luck!!" He shouted, racing over to his find. Almost immediately upon reaching his discovery, he picked the two big shells up. As he admired them however, he felt the ground melt under his feet, and he looked down, seeing his feet slowly vanish into the soft earth. Once more, Ajax was in trouble.
"What?!" He asked in shock, searching for a sign, and sure enough, he found one. "Dire Beach. Beware, for it swallows the careless." Was what it said. It clued Ajax in instantly that he was stuck in some really sticky clay. Try as he might though, the clay refused to let him go that easily. As he sank slowly, he used his only other viable option. "MORWENNA!!!!" He shouted at the top of his lungs. His shout reached Morwenna very easily, and she bolted up instantly.
"Ajax!?" She asked, worried. Hopping to her feet, Morwenna ran in the direction Ajax's shout came from. It didn't take Morwenna long to locate Ajax, and she saw him knee deep in the sucking clay of the Dire Beach. "Shit! I guess this is why it's called Dire Beach!" She cursed. Ajax glanced at Morwenna. "Ngh...! Help me...!" He said, unable to pull himself free. "Hang on, I got you." Said Morwenna, approaching Ajax with an outstretched hand.
But just as Ajax reached for Morwenna in return, her right foot sank into the clay itself, but Morwenna pulled it out immediately in surprise. "Okay, that approach is not going to work..." She said, before looking at Ajax. "I'll be right back." She tells him. "Just stay calm, and don't you dare struggle!" "Easier said than done..." Ajax replies as Morwenna runs back to where she & Ajax were relaxing. She had two choices of rescue equipment: An axe & a bow.
Morwenna picked her axe up first, but surmised that it would be problematic as its handle was not as long as a spear's. She soon settled for Ajax's bow, picking it up and taking up his quiver as well. Luckily, Morwenna still had a long vine from the Dread Swamp earlier, and she ties it to one of Ajax's arrows. "All right, back to Ajax." She said, picking her axe up anyway, slinging it on her back, and racing back to where Ajax was sinking downward still.
Her timing was ideal, too. Ajax was already halfway deep in the clay, and while Morwenna found herself in clay as well, her spot was apparently not bottomless. Yet Ajax just kept sinking. Morwenna readies the bow, nocks the arrow that has her vine tied to it, takes aim, and fires it. "Heads up!" She shouted, shortly before letting the arrow fly. Ajax was chest deep as the arrow flew his way, and with a swift motion of his hand, he grabs the arrow effortlessly.
And this was as he was neck deep and fixing to go under, too. Morwenna proceeded to pull on the vine that the arrow was attached to, and Ajax was yanked across the clay pit he was in effortlessly. Ajax was soon in reach of Morwenna, and she took her axe and handed the safe end to him. Without needing any incentive to do so, he was quick to grab on, and Morwenna pulled him safely out of the bottomless trap, and into the clay she herself stood in.
"Are you all right?" Morwenna asks. "Yeah, I'm all right..." Ajax answered. "You sure have a kink for close calls." Morwenna teased. "Hey now..." Ajax responded. "Just kidding." Mowenna giggled. Ajax just smirked & shook his head. Then, he showcased the shells he found that would be large enough to cup Morwenna's breasts. She blinked at the sight. "You almost sank under for a pair of big shells?" Morwenna asked. Ajax just chuckled nervously soon after.
"That caught me off guard." He admits almost immediately. Morwenna shrugged. "Well, at least you're safe." She said, nonetheless accepting the shells. Ajax noted that he & Morwenna were in more clay, but noticed that this wasn't a bottomless pit like the one he was in. Morwenna soon hugged Ajax, feeling his hair. "I said it before, I'll say it again." She says. "You look good with your body caked in clay from below the neck..." She said in a flirtatious tone.
Ajax just blushed, but before he could say anything, Morwenna snatched him up, and without warning, kissed him right on the lips; deeply, too. Though she did let go after a moment. She soon looked to her left. "There must be a dock somewhere on this Isla..." She admits. "Can we rest a moment?" Ajax asks. "I think my legs are still like jelly from that sudden sink..." He says. "Yeah, I wanted to rest anyway." Morwenna answers, returning her focus on Ajax.
As she resumed her snuggling & kissing with Ajax, deep in Morwenna's heart, she knew that even though there would be a dock waiting for her & Ajax, there still remained the unsolved mystery: How will she escape Isla Barrar without leaving Ajax behind? However, little did she know that the mystery would be solved already. But, the last leg of their journey together on the Isla Barrar will certainly be the most dangerous... And the most... Deceiving.
