In case I didn't make it clear, I will progress the RP every 24 hours (or at the next opportunity after 24 hours). If choices are not locked in by the time I check after the deadline, I will roll a die (currently awaiting maps / Amanda).

Sonja was stuck fast and tried to push herself forward but with little avail. Her tight boots did not help, too and stepping out of them was no option.
She was so relieved and thanked the couple of other girls who cautiously approached her.

Kerry, Clare, Chim and Kim leave their trapped comrades and run to the shelter of the nearby factory, safe from the quicksand and the stalker. Meanwhile, the drama intensifies outside. The group are split over who to rescue, and even the wounded Laura joins, willing to sacrifice herself to save the team. With the two trapped contestants too far apart to do a mutual rescue in time, the contestants divide among themselves, wading into the softening sand to reach Sonja and H8, forming a human chain. The number of contestants taking part in the rescue also heavily reduces the chance of them becoming stuck themselves.

John, left alone to rescue H8, trudges through the deepening sand to H8, who is up to his chest. However, without the help of the team, John is unable to reach H8. H8 tries to resist, but succumbs to the quicksand, the first contestant to drop out in the first trap in the first episode. Despite his failure, John manages to extricate himself from the mud and returns the safety of the platform.

The women band together to rescue Sonja. With a longer human chain, they are able to reach Sonja. H8's futile struggle has placed Sonja in an even more perilous situation, and she nearly goes under by the time they reach her. Fighting against the liquefying sand, they get her onto the surface and slide her across. The surface is unable to hold her weight and she sinks like a stone, but Laura, Victoria, and Amanda pool their efforts together to push her towards the edge, where Abigail lifts her to safety. Abigail's trust in her boots is well placed, as she is able to get herself free before she gets stuck.

Laura, Amanda and Victoria breathe with relief. However, their rest is stopped when they realise that now THEY are stuck! They are now freely sinking into the soft, waterlogged sand with nothing solid beneath their feet. Despite their struggles, they are unable to break free. The quicksand reaches for Victoria's sports bra, and oozes into Amanda's neckline. Laura, weakened from her wound, allows herself to sink without a fight.

The survivors look in horror at the quicksand's new victims. The quicksand is so soft now that rescue is impossible, and even if they could consider it, Frederico appears, holding a large crowbar. They are forced to flee into the factory. Frederico cackles when he sees the bubbles where H8 once was. He then faces the three women, all chest deep in the menacing quicksand.

"I'm a ladies' man, they say," he grins admiring each of their fine features before they disappear into the quicksand. "It's a shame to lose all three of you. And, well, I like to see some guts too." He points his crowbar at Laura, who is barely conscious. "You've got guts, girl. Stronger than any man I worked with - cowards who would rather stab each other in the back. Since you proved yourself, I'm giving you a free pass."

He clicks his fingers, and lights appear to show a crane that had been concealed. "Laura, you get to choose, out of the three of you, who will be rescued by this crane. I can only pull one of you out." He snickers as the sand reaches their shoulders. "And you might want to choose quickly, or else the quicksand will choose for you. Ha!"

Laura's Decisions:

3) Save Victoria

[Other contestants are free to interact among themselves in the factory. Choices are:]
1) Recover and stick together
2) Leave the group and examine the area alone

The big red light in the studio flashes. "Looks like we've lost our first one," one of the crew mutters. "How long can he hold his breath?" asks another. "We can't pick him up until Frederico is clear." Behind the camera control panel, a lucky operator collects the $550 betting pool. After a prod from the producer, he switches the camera over to the commentators. The show's host is seated behind a large panel with multiple cameras, alongside a dark figure whose eyes remain unseen behind large shades.

"Mr V, what do you make of this twist? H8 has already gone under, and the three women are soon to join him!"

"I didn't expect that to happen so quickly," V admitted. "This is the easiest trap in the whole show. I'm surprised so many of them got stuck. But you know," he leaned over to get closer to the host, and to the microphone. "They would've all made it...if they weren't such selfish bastards!" He rocked in a spasm of laughter. "What the hell was that? They could've all made it out if they worked together!"

"And what about Laura? Who will she choose?"

"Well," V replied, regaining his composure. "I doubt she'll pick herself. She'll be lucky if she doesn't bleed out within an hour. I'm a sucker for yoga pants, but Amanda's got a nice rack. I know Amanda will have a better chance against Frederico. He's a boob guy. But what Laura chooses - who knows! What I'm wondering is - what will the others in the factory say to each other?"

"That drama only gets deeper - and only on Serial Sinkers!" the host shouts to the sound of applause. "Stay tuned!"

As they reach the factory Clare slows down, breathing heavily. "I think... we... *gasp*... we're safe here. At least for now."

She looks around at the rest of the group. "Just the four of us left? No, that can't be. Let's wait a while for the others to catch up."

Clare begins to try and get the heavy mud off her jeans and boots. It's not like she minds getting a little dirty, but the added weight just makes it that much harder to run.

Kerry, wide eyed, gets on her knees and starts to help Clare clean herself off, using her hands to scoop mud off her legs.

"I can't believe you tried that," she whispers, looking up. "You're brave."

Kerry's lips quiver in fear, knowing already this show is more intense than she thought.
