PurpleFrogbot's Quicksand Collection

Postby PurpleFrogbot » Fri Apr 25, 2025 12:26 am

Squirming against the grip of the quicksand never did a jungle woman much good, but she's going to struggle all the way down.

The tour guide told them to stay with the group. Don't wander off. The animals are dangerous, but the land is deadly. They should have listened, but it's too late. Help won't find them in time. Nothing to do now but sink.

I've seen this and some of your other recent work elsewhere, but it's great to see you posting here again, even if there seems to be less engagement here these days. I still find myself revisiting your work on the older threads ever so often.

Thanks! Yeah, everything is up on my socials and Discord, but I figured I'd add it here anyways. Might take some time to get caught up with the post approval system, but we'll get there.

Collabs are fun when they involve hot women getting sucked into quicksand worms. This was a cover illustration for JT Keller's story, which I believe has been posted in another thread here already.

Follow orders and split the plunder fairly. Only a fool would break those simple rules, and a fool she was; the missing doubloons found stashed away in her boot sealed her fate. Her groans and frantic gasps served as a grim reminder to the rest of the crew as she sank to her end in the soft sands: the code is not to be broken.

What promised to be a simple fetch-quest with a modest reward in gold coins turns dire when Wren stumbles into a sucking quagmire in the heart of a wild swampland. In the midst of her struggles, Wren realizes she's no longer alone. Her jeering spectators, however, show no interest in throwing a lifeline, even when one of their own takes a tumble and sinks squealing out of sight. With nothing beneath her toes but bottomless quicksand, Wren settles in deeper with every shift of her weight. As she slowly sinks, she wishes she had never left the roadside tavern...No amount of coin in her purse is worth this mirey end.

The Impartial Laws of Nature, my short story from last year, has been in need of some artwork to go with it for a long time. You can read and download the story here:

"Follow us. This is the way. Just a little farther. Don't be afraid. That's it. One more step. Oh...What's that? The bog? Yes...Yes, you are. You're sinking. Slowly and softly, down into the mire. Ours forever."
