Back in September 2018, I made a thread showing the quicksand I programmed and now I decided to share a screenshot of my attempt to make a quicksand tile for RPG Maker MV which I created by editing one of the default tilesets and recoloring the poison swamp to make it look like quicksand.
If you want the quicksand to look better, it is possible to change the sprite using the Change Actor Image command and setting up the command to change the character image of the actor so that stepping in the quicksand would have her legs covered, sinking deeper would have the quicksand maybe up to her waist or breast, and sinking even deeper would maybe show only her hair showing she's submerged. This would be easier if you use Yanfly's Region Events (for RPG Maker MV) which is how I programmed the quicksand.

Very lovely. RPGs need more quicksand I say.

I have attempted to make tar for RPG Maker MV by editing one of the tilesets using paint.net. Currently I don't have it coded at the moment but I'm guessing the player would be stuck if they stay in it for too long.

Re: My quicksand for RPG Maker MV
I have uploaded the demo for the Quicksand feature in RPG Maker MV. You can try it out in your browser to see how the quicksand feature works. I also added tar but I don't have anything programmed at the moment so it just slows you down.
