are we to imagine that the "eye" looking up at her is close by but not the sink spot itself? like ten or twenty inches in front of her? otherwise, would expect the legs to be coming down either side and not hidden by the mud

Now this is something we definitely do not see often around here. Actually I am not sure if this perspective has been done at all.

I like it. It really gives me that sinking feeling.

She's not standing directly over the spot, no. The viewpoint is meant to be looking effectively straight up, with her in front. But the viewpoint is meant to be the sinking spot, definitely.

Show a little slip or some kind of lingerie under the dress or skirt.

This reminds me of a type of sink I would like to see. It starts of normal, but I'd say about at the waist, the ground under the quicksand collapses, and suddenly you are surrounds by walls of mud, in a hole in the ground. If you outstretch your arms, they would gloop right into the mud. However, despite the claustrophillia, it is not safe. You are still sinking, and at the same time, the mud is filling in the hole. So not only are you going to sink under, by the time you do, the hole will fill up, and when you submerge, you will already be 6 feet below the surface. Sounds like a fun thing to experience through a story. I'll have to write that sometime. I guess this was a teaser inspired by your picture.

POVs are a rare thing done when it comes to sinking. This certainly ranks an A+ on execution. Or rather... S+. Yeah, let's go with S+.
