We'll here we are... classic Midwest blizzard ... 20 inches !!! The Sheriff Dept. of the surrounding counties are stopping people and telling them to turn around and go back home. The roads are impassable. The place I work at finally, within the last 30 minuets, called it a snow day.
Hunker down folks!!
Robert
PS. I'll bet it hardly gets a mention on the National news!!..lol

Oh, yeah?
I had mine awhile back now!
I walked out to snow so deep (mid-thigh) that it had been mud, I coulda shot a quicksand video in it. My car is now sitting in the middle of a teeny cleared space in my DOUBLE-WIDE parking lot because I had no place to store all that snow so I had to pile it in my driveway. No snowblower either. Musta burnt 5,000 calories that day.
It just won't melt either. My driveway has now looked like this for a month.
Like a mantra, I keep repeating it:
"It won't be here in July."
But you get to stay home from work. That's cool.

We're hearing about it but you would get more attention if you were fighting street battles in Cairo right now.
It's dropped into the mid-thirties here and gotten partly cloudy for the first half of the day. The sun should be back out after lunch. I don't see how ya'll stand it.

It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

We northerners are tough...
Not too bad here, actually. At the northern fringes of that storm and while we got a nice heap of snow, I've seen it a lot worse. My sympathies to those who are being clobbered. Been there. many, many times...

Re: Snow... Snow... Snow....!!!!!!
here in illinois, ground zero, the last 48 hours has been fun in a satyrical kinda way, 15-20 inches of snow on one side of the state and 3-4 inches of sleet and ice on the other. I got the snow with drifts of almost 4 feet in driveway. The door on the side of the garage has snow all the way over the handle. My son put our car in the ditch yesterday and the tow companies said it would be 2 or 3 days before they could pull it out. We had thundersnow last night, which is very freaky at best, one big flash of light and then BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!

We had a day of rain on Tuesday. Our only snow was a few flurries after the rain stopped. (and none of that stuck) Our problem is that the rain was so heavy that it flooded our basement. (like kept happening last year!)

Yesterday morning's commute was 5" of snow that was being topped with (freezing) rain. A 48 minute commute on Interstate highways took me 1 hour 25 minutes.
This morning I was greeted with 1/2" of pure ice. My car was a giant ice cube. I said the hell with it and worked at home today. The county where I worked had at one point 52,000 people without power (51.7%), and it won't all be restored until Saturday.

Finally got home in Morgan County, Illinois! Power came back on yesterday. I spent 36 hours at work from Monday evening until Wednesday morning, and got my car stuck a few times trying to get to my family's place, which still had power. Grand total for here was 14 inches. Hope everyone hit by "Snowpocalypse 2011" (which is what facebook and the radio stations are calling it) is safe and warm.

Re: Snow... Snow... Snow....!!!!!!
This is something about Arkansas that is such a pain. Tomorrow is another day with a forecast of "wintry mix" precipitation. The temp at the time precipitation is currently forecast to be 33F. Just a degree or two variance from that temp will wildly vary the impact of tomorrow's weather. If it's 31 with freezing rain, it could shut the state down. If it's 33 with rain, it will just make life miserable for anyone who has to go outside. (and 31 degrees with just snow falling will mean doom only for those who are not skilled and/or equipped to drive in snow, but too inexperienced and/or overconfident to realize it)
