Popcorn machines

Postby Fred588 » Thu May 22, 2025 6:38 pm

I have a good collection of cooking devices bt I am up to my ears (err,...so to speak) in popcorn machines. Two monhs agoI had a hot air popper. It turned off (I thought) in the middle of a batch. It did that several times, so I decided to order a new one. Not being sure if i wanted a hot air popper or a microwave popper, I ordered one of each. Those arrived about the end of April, but by then I had figured out that the problem with the first one was not the popper but the power strip it was plugged in to. So that mean I have three popping machines.

Except today an unexpected package turned up on the porch. I thought it might be an astoundingly early delivery of a costume. Nope. Inside was another microwave popper and another hot air popper. So now I have FIVE of them.

Secondary conclusion: Fred may be full of hot air. Or maybe I should do a scene about a Lieutenant Kernal who is full of hot air

Might be time for a Hollywood popcorn pit?
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

Well, maybe not. I am reminded, however, that a long time ago when there was a chat system called WAM_Quicksand (started by James diGriz and later turned ove to me, we did some role playing that involved a popcorn machine. People pushed buttons on the popcorn machine and promptly disappeared. Later I had a popcorn machine that did the same thing at the PsychicWorld JungleLand Bar and Grill. [The bar and grill is still there but not the popcorn machine.] When I started doing scenes that started at the same bar and grill (such as the medicine man series) I did not have a popcorn machine, but I did, and still, have a gumball machine. That is why all the scenes in the gumball series begin with the model saying hello to Fred (who is always there and knows everyone's name) before putting a quarter into the gumball machine and vanishing to their adventure involving a bog.

It would be cool to replace the gumball machine with a slot machine (which I have) but it would not do well outdoors and it is too heavy to move easily.
