Weather tonight in Central Tennessee

Postby Fred588 » Tue May 20, 2025 3:15 pm

It curreently lloks like another day of dangerouss weather. This time Tennessee seems to be i the crosshairs. The threat right now is tornados, mainly in western TN. According to reports, a few hours from now the threat will be very strong wind, mostly in the Nashville area. If you are in this area, stay awake.

Also, take note that the transmitter location for the above area is apparently down for maintennce today, so do not reply on that for warning.

Middle TN got hammered pretty good. I've seen worse but I'm typing this on a laptop powered by a big battery that is also running my Starlink satellite internet. I'm out at the farm and there's no power for several hours now. During and after Covid I began to take an interest in preparing for catastrophe or at least a run on toilet paper again. I could hear a big tree fall out there somewhere earlier while steaming up an MRE. I'm doing okay but the dog and the horses don't seem to like the change in routine.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

It was another fizzle where I'm at. But I'll take it.

Having said that, every tree at Camp MPV (that hasn't croaked meanwhile) is fourteen years older than when I bought the place. The chain saw sees more action every year.

I've already seen enough to not be out there when it's super windy.

Sitting in the dark after the deluge, I heard a distant tree slowly give way and hit the ground with a substantial thump. Thought I'd never see it only to find some neighbors having just cut it up from where fell across the road this morning. It wasn't the wind but the sodden bank that finally gave way. Yeah, watch yourself. ;)

Issues wherever you go. In some places things move in the ground (as when it gets wet), in other places the ground moves. In some places it goes too long without raining, in others it rains too long. Sometimes its too wet for anything to burn, in others its too dry to not burn.
