I remember him from "Time Tunnel", but I was really impressed with his acting, his singing, and the swagger he portrayed as the Vegas style holodeck character Vic Fontaine on ST:DS9.

From "Valley Of Mystery" : Don't struggle and do not thrash around; that just makes things worse!

Yes, know what you mean, I always enjoyed his music and that of fellow Brazilian Joao Gilberto.

Sadly, we've also lost Herbie Flowers, the man who put that iconic bass line on Lou Reed's "Walk on the wildside".

I only knew him by name, until he got mashed up with Uma Thurman somehow -

Fun times. (Oh, and don't watch Be Cool unless you've already seen Get Shorty).

Talk about putting a name with a tune. That song travelled the entire planet.

James Earl Jones, 93. I loved him as a baseball aficionado in both The Sandlot and Field of Dreams. But he could play almost any type of part, like Jack Ryan’s boss in the Tom Clancy thrillers. But immortal as the ultimate bad-guy voice of Darth Vader. One of a kind. RIP.

Bummer.

Ever catch him as a youngster in Doctor Strangelove?

Yes, as bomber crew member Lt. Zogg, going back and forth with Major Kong (Slim Pickens): “Major Kong, is it possible this is some kind of loyalty test . . .?” “Negative, sir, the operating circuits are dead, sir.” Then Major “King” Kong goes down for his ride down to the target. A classic, for sure.

I am showing my age... but I think it's hard to top the 'steel is strong; flesh is stronger' monologue from Conan the Barbarian.
But he had many roles, on both screen and in theatre, that he excelled at with a voice that could be mistaken for no other.
