I am guessing the answer is neither, either because cheetahs don't swim or both were disqualified for being cheet ers.

How about one-two-three because the other one went under twice?

I think one-two-three won because un deux trois quatre cinq (makes sense if you say it).

I was thinking "Un der twice" but I think both work.

I originally heard the riddle as two "cats", but decided that using that word might help give away the answer, so I decided to substitute a species of cat, and chose "cheetahs", because of their speed.

What we have here, I think, is two jokes. You could tell one using the original names and cats and then again with Cheatahs and different names but names with numbers.
