Even here in BC, there are some places that have been hit with extremely heavy snow this season. Although the snow hasn't been out of the ordinary here in the Okanagan valley, Mount Washington on Vancouver Island was hit with insane amounts of snow in a short period of time back in December!

It is snowing again here in Little Rock, AR, today. I don't think we normally have this much snow in a year, but I don't have any numbers to back that up.

This just in: My work just called to tell me they're closing, and U of A Little Rock just texted that they're closing at noon today. Looks like it may be another "close the state" snowfall. It's just 28F outside, snowing fairly hard, and has begun sticking to the streets...

I think you guys all lucked out to be honest....I'd rather be shoveling 2 feet of snow then trying to get rid of all the ice we got. We got sleet, then freezing rain, then more sleet. Next day the sun came out and melted it into a wonderful crust about 1 1/2" thick.....Had to use a pickax to get rid of the glacier the snow plow left in front of my driveway....

Last year we got an ice storm the first week in January. The lawn Christmas decorations were still up. Although I got the figures down the extension cords and some of the light were there until Spring as there was about 6 inches of solid ice on the lawn.

For the first time since I moved here in 1992, and possibly the first time since the house was built in 1960, I have to take a roof rake to the house to reduce the snow load. Could probably get by without it, but there is more snow on the way and it just ain't melting. Mine isn't too bad- my buddy (who I borrowed the roof rake from) has a low-pitched roof with two gas furnace vents up through the ridge. The furnaces keep melting the snow and creating HUGE ice jams. I spent 2 hours last night helping him out- he's got a bad back and can't handle the roof rake with all the extensions in place. Seriously, we've been having roofs collapse on barns and buildings- and we engineer them for snow load in this part of the country.

20 cm -or so of snow since yesterday afternoon's snowsqualls, which all petered out now. Still cold, -16 while shoveling this morning. More snow in a few days and little milder. When is spring again?

I think they're getting an early spring in Egypt. 8-)
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.
