Even after studying just about everything there is on the battle, you still have to marvel at these men. To go out, off the decks of a ship in an SBD, with your gunner, a thousand-pound bomb, and nothing more complex than a plotting board, a chart, a pencil and a stopwatch, and find the enemy. And if you do that, dodge through flak and fighters for a CHANCE to drop your payload on a high-speed maneuvering target. And hope you have enough gas to get home. If you can find it.
