SW Rebels S2 Finale

Postby kham » Thu Mar 31, 2016 3:41 am

Now, I did not actually see the episode, since they dont have the frapping channel here :D However....there are other means

Part 1 summary:

Part I - Ezra, Kanan, Chopper and Ahsoka arrive on Malachor - a Sith world long forbidden to the Jedi - in search of knowledge with which to combat Vader the Inquisitors, though Chopper warns them they are not alone as another ship is on the planet. Landing within a massive crater, Ezra accidentally causes the Jedi to fall into an underground cavern - containing a Sith Temple and the site of an immense, ancient battlefield between Sith and Jedi. They soon after find the other ship's owner - an Inquisitor known as the Eighth Brother, who's attack seperates Ezra from Kanan and Ahsoka. With help from Chopper, Kanan and Ahsoka capture the Eighth Brother and his ship - though he manages to signal help - and learn he was on Malachor searching for "a shadow." Meanwhile, Ezra encounters an old hermit calling himself the "Old Master", who offers to help him get into the Temple as it requires two Force-users to open and later reveals himself to be the Eighth Brother's target and a former Sith. Upon reaching the Temple, "Old Master" coerces Ezra to tap his anger and passions to enter it and helps him recover a Sith holocron, during which he reveals himself to be Darth Maul. Ahsoka and Kanan arrive at the Temple entrance but are ambushed by the Seventh Sister and Fifth Brother, who free the Eighth Brother and duel the pair until Ezra and Maul arrive to drive them off.

Now, the teasers beforehand gave a few spoilers away; the "old hermit" had a line when asked by Ezra if he was a Sith, responded "The Sith...The Sith took EVERYTHING from me. Tore me from my mother's arms. Killed my Brother. Used me as a weapon and then cast me aside! Abandoned me! Once, I had power....now, I have nothing...NOTHING.." Yeah. If you didn't get that THAT is Darth Maul, you have been taking Kylo Ren level stupid pills  And Ezra opening the Sith Holocron is NOT good. Only a force-sensitive using emotions, anger, RAGE can access their holocrons.

It gets worse...

Part II - On Ezra's instance, Kanan and Ahsoka begrudgingly allow Maul to help them after he reveals the Sith Holocron can unlock the temple's deepest secrets, with Maul pointing out that the Inquisitors will inform Darth Vader of their presence. Unwilling to let Vader claim the temple's power and knowing none of them can match Vader alone, they work together to scale the temple and finally kill the three Inquisitors, though Ezra's trust in Maul unsettles Kanan as the former Sith tries to tempt Ezra toward embracing the Dark Side, eventually sending Ezra ahead with the Holocron to access the temple core. However, Maul betrays the group and blinds Kanan with his lightsaber, revealing his true intentions of making Ezra his Sith apprentice, while Ezra is shocked to learn the temple is actually a massive weapon Maul tricked him into activating for use in his revenge. Despite the loss of his eyes, Kanan manages to knock Maul off the temple while Ahsoka runs to stop the it's activation - only to find that Darth Vader has arrived, having cornered Ezra by destroying his lightsaber. Ahsoka then duels Vader alone while Kanan and Chopper help Ezra remove the Sith Holocron, causing the temple to start collapsing. Vader overpowers Ahsoka and attempts to take the Holocron, but Ahsoka blindsides Vader and cuts open his helmet, heartbroken upon recognizing his face as that of her master; Anakin Skywalker. Ahsoka ultimately stays within the crumbling temple to stall Vader while Ezra, Kanan and Chopper flee the planet and reunite with the Ghost crew. Vader, injured in the collapse, limps away from the ruins while an image of Ahsoka fades into the darkness of the temple's remains, leaving her fate unknown. Meanwhile, Darth Maul manages to escape Malachor by stealing one of the dead Inquisitor's ships. As the Ghost crew tries to cope with their losses, Ezra continues to meditate on the Sith Holocron, finally succeeding in opening it - and potentially the path to the Dark Side.

Vader does love an entrance  And the ease he smacks Ezra around with and destroys that ridiculous gun/toy/lightsaber of his was delicious indeed. If Ahsoka had not intervened, he would be a deader or maimed and in the hands of the Emperor. They did wuss out in my opinion though; leaving her fate uncertain was a "aw come on!" moment. Kanan geting a lightsaber to the face and not missing half his face is lucky only being blinded. Be interesting to see what they do. Cybernetic eyes are one option; Bacta therapy too, although thats a in-'verse thing as to how well it heals thing. But Ezra accessing a Sith Holocron can not end well. Somewhere, Palpatine is giving that horrible laugh of his....

Ezra Bridger: "I don't fear you!"
Darth Vader: "Then, you will die braver than most..."

Video footage starting to become available....

Darth Maul seducing Ezra
Most of what he is saying is Pure Sith Doctrine. Especially the bit about breaking your chains.
I love his walking stick  Subtle

Darth Maul, Ezra, Ahsoka & Kanaan VS The Inquisitors

Maul v wannabe darksiders = pure ownage  And utterly no mercy. That closes out Sarah Michelle Gellar's VA role for now. Smirking when a child fails is not a good idea -- especially when the former Sith Lord won't hesitate to kill you in an eyeblink

Darth Vader vs Ahsoka full fight & ending
The Main Event
That Voice
Using Ahsoka's theme during the fight was brilliant, as the subtle undertone of Vader's as the fight progressed.
And opening a Sith Holocron? Yeah. That ONLY can be done by someone open to the Dark Side....

How retarded is that? THOSE were the actual SW Rebels official Youtube channels

Plus, this is the internet....

Darth Maul, Ezra, Ahsoka & Kanaan VS The Inquisitors HD 1080p (Star Wars Rebels S02 Final

At some point, they may as well give in --- the net cannot be regulated
Plus, people already have seen it, and still would watch on their cable if they had it, and buy the DVDs -- this is just lawyer assholery doomed to fail and make people hate them and laugh at them

A) Yes, it was, and is, stupidity of the highest order; for chrissakes, it was the Official Rebels channel that posted the clips, and it's not like they put up the entire 45-odd minutes of footage

B) Yes, they seem to have grown up some, perhaps not all the writers are retards. I said over 2 years ago they would have to be serious or this just had epic fail all over it. Witness S1... but they managed to avoid augering in with introducing Vader with the real voice in that finale. Got things moving fast with the mini-series where Vader kicked there asses off Lothal. They did not bad through the year with a few fillers that even the producer had to admit thats what they were... but Using Rex, and Ahsoka, and other characters we last saw in the Clone Wars was a good touch. Hera meeting her father Cham was a nice touch (doubly so those of us who read some of the updated Canon fiction; the FYI there is that the rebel organization on Ryloth was once bigger...until Cham tried to kill a couple rather prominent Imperials. This failed, pretty badly. And his outfit was decimated as you might expect)
Bringing Maul back was a risky move I thought. My initial reaction was "aw, for fuck's sake....can't this guy stay DEAD?" But they did good. Maul as more of schemer as well as his still considerable abilities was good. When Ezra asked him "Who is Vader?" and his reply "Who I SHOULD have been..." was perfect. And his playacting as a dark Yoda was brilliant. I wonder if someone on the staff took a somewhat less-than-subtle poke in Yoda's eye with his "walking stick"
But the entire conversation with Ezra, pure Sith Lore and Doctrine. The ways of opening all the passages needing 2 to accomplish. Maul forcing Ezra to lift the stone wall doors akin to Yoda and the X-Wing with Luke. And when it came to combat. He was still Maul. Literally laughing and humiliating the Inquisitors. Ezra unable to kill the Sister? No matter. And she wont be smirking anymore. Ahsoka disarmed the one Brother and stopped, Maul just stepped in and eviscerated him. Leaving the last one to try to flee, which worked about as well as you'd think. They have not shown the section how Kanan was blinded , but it sounds like Maul betrayed them and was knocked off the pyramid by Ahsoka. Him escaping in one of the Inquisitor's ships was expected.
Vader
Dead on, the Darth Vader we know well from Empire. The distorted mix of his voice using Jones's and the VA who did Anakin was brilliant, as well as chilling. We KNOW he was going to survive the Sith weapon self-destructing; Ahsoka is still an open question. Some say that's her stumbling into the depths of the ruins; I don't know, I can't tell so far.
But the close out with the Sith Holocron opening ? Not good. Too many dumbass theories out there. But the one thing I know for sure, is that You can only open one by tapping into your emotions, and be able to be open to the Dark Side. The coming season, I don't think is going to be as cheery as some people think
