Never Bring an Axe to a Gunfight

Postby kham » Mon Mar 14, 2016 1:17 pm

Customer with concealed carry permit fatally shoots ax-wielding attacker at 7-Eleven

The bit that caught my eye was:

The customer who shot the suspect is described as a 60-year-old Seattle man who visits the store every morning to get coffee. His name was not immediately released.

So.... its either Harry Callahan or Jethro Gibbs :D

Harry Callahan: Every day for the past ten years, Loretta there's been giving me a large black coffee, today she gives me a large black coffee only it has sugar in it, a lotta sugar. I just came back to complain. Now, you boys put those guns down.
Crook: Say what?
Harry Callahan: Well, we're not just gonna let you walk out of here.
Crook: Who'se we sucka?
Harry Callahan: [slowly drawing his .44 Magnum] Smith and Wesson... and me.

A great moment among many great moments in a great movie. :D

My sweet teenage daughter recently reviewed that scene with me and now she wants a .44 mag. I told her that was a bit aggressive for shooting cans and not at all lady like. As for the dead dope with the axe all I can say is I hope he learned from his experience.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

:D
Well, Harry/Clint is a fairly big guy; and Hickok45 is somewhat oversized at north of 6'4" , he's one of the few that thinks plinking with a .44 Magnum (especially his Model 29, the original Dirty Harry pistol) is fun :)

On the other hand, we have Destinee here shooting the 500 Magnum , and some one handed stuff no less. So it might be just proper technique and muscles. OTOH, even the big fella isn't much for plinking with the 500 . And it's a wee bit big for a carry piece :D

It's obvious this situation could've been prevented with stricter ax control. Assault axes with high capacity cutting heads should be banned, no one could possibly need to split that much wood that fast.
