The price of everything changes. For some reason gas prices are easily ignited.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

The price of gas is speculative and driven in large part based on geopolitical events, so you can't really talk about the price of gas without getting at least a wee bt political. 8-)

You can talk about things such as theory and events without injecting one's own point of view. In any case, last I heard, political things are not allowed.

Political topics are not allowed, but political comments are noted as they happen.

The thing that struck me as funny earlier in the thread is when (election year) politics were first mentioned. The commenter had it backwards. Big oil would generally prefer a different flavor than what we currently have.

Anyways, it was a perilous thing to bring up if one wants this area to be completely apolitical.

See that's the road I took. Speculators are gonna speculate. That's not opinion, just simple fact.

Nah, I think it's speculation.
The difference between theory and reality is that, in theory, there is no difference between theory and reality.

Nah, I think it's speculation.

I'm guessing that you're both wrong.

But is Dave just guessing? or perhaps just speculating? Just remember that hazarding a guess can be,... well,... hazardous.

I don't know if you heard this in the States, but there is a British Conservative ex-MP called Dominic Cummings (the one who got fired after violating Covid restrictions by driving to a castle in the North-East to "test my new glasses") who has ascribed the increase in prices, not just in gas but across the board generally, to the sanctions against Russia. Apparently the cutting off of Russian natural gas has caused energy prices to rise exponentially, and as the price of energy goes up, so does the price of everything else. I'm no economist, but for once I agree with his argument.
