I was just out and about walking one day, ( jeans and trainers and a jacket ) minding my own business and then studpidly stepped on to what I though was solid mud and I sank! at first to my knees but the more I struggled I ended up waist deep and then started going deeper! staying clam I turned on my back and tried to lay flat, it took a while but I was able to get out. I climbed up and walked the wrong way back to where I had came from and foolishly mistook my footing and landed back in more mud.
I landed in an area of thick sloppy mud and started to sink quicker than before, I went down to my waist and panicked a little as I went down to chest level before I hid solid ground, needless to say I enjoyed the moment before I noticed the tide moving in, now I stood up and kicked myself up on to my back and out, it took around 25 to 30 minutes. Then I took a more safer route back to the main footpath caked and covered.

Probably the most stuck I got was the first ever deep sink I did. Going for a sink was not intentional at the time, it was a planning trip for the actual sink I was thinking of doing the next day. My rough plan was to go out there, get a decent sized stick out of the undergrowth and probe the mud with it to try to find out what it was like and how deep it was, and where the deep parts were.
It was a nice Friday afternoon in late spring, and I was just 18, and my parents had (foolishly) gone away for the weekend leaving me at home. I had spotted this muddy area in the woods when I was out on my bike the year before, and I had been thinking about it a lot as soon as I knew I was going to be alone for a whole weekend. Especially that day, where I had spent so much time thinking about this mud expedition I barely got any work done, so when I went home from college, I ditched my bag and immediately got back on my bike to go out there and check it out. I had no plans to actually get muddy since I was supposed to be meeting up with friends later, I just wanted to check it out so I could plan to get muddy on the weekend when I had more time and could plan everything out better, e.g. place to clean up, clean clothes, a proper recon of the area so as to not get caught etc. so I just went out in my school clothes (shorts and white shirt).
When I finally got there, it all looked very disappointing. The weather had been warm and dry for a while. After I had scrambled down the bank and trying to avoid getting stung by the thigh-high nettles or caught up in any thorny undergrowth, all I found was a cracked up dried area of mud with just a trickle of a stream running on the other side of it. It looked like there was a small area of wet mud by the stream and that was about it. But since I was there, I foraged around for a suitable mud-probing stick anyway, expecting more disappointment but I had to at least check to see if there was anything worthwhile. I walked out onto the cracked surface of the dried mud, towards the stream, probing stick in hand, and at this point discovered the "dried mud" wasn't dry at all, it was just a thin layer on top of deep, thick mud and I unexpectedly and quickly sank almost waist deep... Like the previous poster, I tried to move a bit and sank up to my chest, but I didn't hit the bottom, I realised I was actually floating in it and it was quite hard to sink any deeper. It also felt really good, if you've ever sunk in deep mud you know what I mean. Unlike the previous poster I didn't have the tide to worry about, so I more than enjoyed the moment.
After a while I tried to climb out and panicked a bit because I just couldn't make much progress, and every time I tried to pull a foot up, not only was it difficult, but the mud tried to take my shoes off (I only ever once went in mud with shoes twice after this, and regretted it each time). After a bit of an exhausting struggle, I realised I could kind of lay forwards and float to the top and pull myself to the edge, and I managed it without getting a shoe sucked off. I think I was probably in the mud for about 45 minutes, but fortunately being young and fit it didn't exhaust me entirely, and it was hard work trying to move in it. I now had the problem of getting home covered almost up to my shoulders in mud without being seen, fortunately it was a warm day so I decided to wait until it got dark and hope no one would see me, and at least I had success with that part. The worst bit was the mud just got everywhere, I blocked the drain in the shower while showering still in my muddy clothes, and panicked again wondering how I was going to explain this, but managed to get the drain unblocked. I spent hours the next day cleaning things up, I also discovered that it was impossible to ever get a white shirt white again after it had been in the mud.
I did go in that mud probably about half a dozen again times before I moved away, but on these occasions I was fully prepared with clothes to change into (including sinking all the way under, which turned out to need a surprising amount of effort) and at least get enough of the mud off so I wouldn't block the drain in the shower again.

LOL. You would not be allowed anyhere near the indoor shower, or even indoors, in that condition, at my studio. On the other hand, the cleanup hose near each pit has hot water. And so you don't waste time with the outside cleanup, the hot water comes from the same hot water heater that serves the indoor shower.
Studio 588 currently offers more than 2200 different HD and QD quicksand videos and has supported production of well over 2400 video scenes and other projects by 20 different producers. Info may be found at:
