While I’ve seen plenty of clips involving shirts, pants, short or bikinis (or swimwear), there are some more interesting outfits I would like a sinking/mudding, but havernt seen much in mud/quicksand videos (in order of rarity)
- Cosplay type outfits (especially from anime/manga): More common from producers like ssxxxs4, but rarely from producers such as Quicksand Visuals. These have more interesting outfits and characters although they can be pricey.
- Big, poofy, princess-type dresses: There was one by Nessie but thats about it; Likely due to concerns about the dress being too heavy once soaked with mud and trying to get out of the quicksand in it. Distant candidates would be CosplayWetlookPrincess and WamTec, but these are merely soaked in water.
Onesies/Kigurumi akin to SAZAC or similar: I have never seen a clip of this nor do I believe there are clips of those. It would be nice to see a nice cute onesie outfit sinking in mud/quicksand and come out all caked in mud. I dont see much of a safety reason why these are not used.
- FinFun (or similar) Mermaid tails: I would like to see a mermaid sink in mud or quicksand. Although it could be a major risk considering it binds the legs together.
Apart from the listed reasons, why arent these outfits seen more often? And what other outfits do you want to see sunk in but rarely appear?

Re: Outfits not commonly sunk in
Wardrobe probably competes with model type/appearance/grooming for the top X factor for any given producer. In fact, because it's more repeatable, it probably is the top.
These are followed by preferences for submersion/non-submersion, survival outcomes, substances and so on.
Regarding Quicksand Visuals, it benefitted from having two guys (and sometimes others) in the drivers seat. But regarding wardrobe, one preferred sexy/skimpy and nude, while the other preferred jungle bikinis and nude (mostly nude). The QSV catalog is peppered with more wardrobe centric scenes thanks to customs we did. A big thanks.
And that brings me to the answer to your basic question; If you want specific wardrobe, you either 'get lucky' with a producer whos tastes align with yours, or get your wallet out and order a custom video. Your options would have been much broader pre-piracy, but it is what it is.

Re: Outfits not commonly sunk in
The reply from Dave is pretty much spot on. I can only answer from the point of view of Stdio 588. First, we have done a fair number of "costume" scenes, though not specifically what the question asked about. The main issue a producer must deal with in deciding what scenes to produce is economic. If one is spending five figures (PER YEAR) on models and also providing the facility, props, costumes, and everything else, one has to make a judgment about how a scene will fare with those who purchase them. A scene that requies an elaborate costume will not necessarily sell any mnore than one in shorts and t-shirt. Such a scene will cost more to produce and will sell the same, or, more likely, less. Thus, it is spot on (yep redundant phrase, I know) to say that the way to get such scenes made is to order a custom scene. Unfortunately, for this year, at least, obtaining costumes of this type may be problematic. {nless, of course, you can make the costume yourself.]
Sorry, this has to be said: After filming a scene in the mud the costume will probably have "spots on" it.

Re: Outfits not commonly sunk in
Okay, I'll throw my two cents worth in as one who has worked for and with the previous responders and as someone who has probably actually purchased more mud/qs scene wardrobe than the rest of the world combined. Especially if you take one certain person out of the calculation. Everything they have both said is complete and correct but there is also issues of size. You drop substantial money on one of the aforementioned outfits for your XS, 0,2,4, petite talent with size 4 or 6 footwear and Rockell Starbux shows up. That's not gonna come close. You buy for Rockell and well...anybody else shows up, forget it. One reason why virtually everyone at Camp MPV was the same size was because of the abundant wardrobe we had accumulated over the decades for size 4 or smaller. Mostly smaller. Size matters.
Then there's what looks right. Big poofy dresses don't work on lanky ladies like Star or very petite ladies like Annabelle G. You end up with more dress than lady. Good talent doesn't like wearing stuff that makes them look bad.
When you're out shooting in the wild you have enough logistical issues without another suitcase.
Most of the people who created scenes or are still doing it are well over 60. What's cosplay? If we tinkered with that we might as well speak Hungarian too.
And I prefer most ladies generally wearing little to nothing so if I'm writing the script or buying the wardrobe, guess what?
Nudity is a great way to get the size and cost right every single time too. To say nothing of doing the laundry.
Fred may recall a night shoot with Kristine, who was no frail pixie, where we put her in a prom dress I bought that afternoon. Long dress with several layers. Probably weighed 400 pounds when we tried to get her out and the vacuum beneath the skirt wasn't going to break until we got her out of the dress first. Similar situation with Gummi's red dress in Canada. I think it's still in a bog up there in B.C.
I could go on and on as I am prone to do but if you really want to see these things you better get with someone about a custom scene.

Actually, I did retrieve the red dress from the bog that day, and suggested that instead of throwing it in the trash, that they could try salvaging it for Nessie. But in the end, they decided it wasn't worth saving, and discarded it after all.
I sink, therefore I WAM!!!!

We may be remembering different scenes here but there was one scene, in the clay, for which the dress had to come off for Kristine to geet out. I don't remember it as being red, but I do remember hauking it out (the next day the way I remember it, cleaning it up very laboriously, and eventually adding it to the wardrobe collection here. I might even still have it, although I don't think so.

Gummi had the red one and this is the one we are both thinking about. With all the layers and lace clinging to the Bentonite at Studio 588, it was an iron maiden rig from hell. She and I were goofing around in a department store in Little Rock. They had all these prom dresses on sale and I think I bought most of them. Anyhow, it's a good example of what not to wear if you're getting in the deep stuff and plan on getting out.

I was trying to remember how all that worked out. It's been a while.

Re: Outfits not commonly sunk in
This morning I had occasion to look through the wardrobe collection - looking for an item sent by someone else for a custom a few years ago. Kristine's prom dress is not in the collection, although damn near everythng else used and abandoned in the past IS there.

A substantial collection, no doubt. We were visited by Sarge, a compulsive organizer
