I remember reading a story in the paper (believe it or not, about 25 years ago!) when I was in the navy in CA. The story told about how some kids had driven a pickup truck down to the bottom of a gravel pit, only to see the ground that had appeared to be solid suddenly change, first trapping the pickup, then swallowing it entirely before anyone could get it unstuck. (remember, this was before cell phones) I was really miffed that it did not tell what gravel pit.

LOL!!!!
I prefer to stay away from gravel pits though... too many variables about the consistency of the byproduct that can result in a dangerous situation.. For example.. the QS can clamp tight enough to cut off circulation and if you do not have someone there to help you, you can permanently damage your limbs, to the point of amputation even..
I do have access to gravel quarries if I want since I do have close friends in the excavation industry, but I rather not use quarry mud.. Some of that stuff can have chemicals in it that can be corrosive to human skin, for example, run off from rinsing concrete out of a truck...
That is an interesting story though!!
I am just looking for something of a peat bog in the area.... Away from plain sight, and can hopefully be accessed by permission of land owner lol...
