Muddy Dreams

Postby dougiezerts » Thu Apr 23, 2009 7:16 pm

Have any of you ever had dreams about the mud?
I had a funny one, a couple years ago. There was an area of my backyard that had been squared off. It had rained heavily, and that area was now a mini mud pit.
I decided to wade barefoot in the mud! Walking around it, I lost my balence in a deep area and fell in! I clearly remember I was wearing pants and a butten-up shirt with a coller. And I could actually feel the sensation of the mud!
I also once had a dream about one of my co-workers. I dreamt I saw her sitting on the ground with her bare feet in a mud puddle! I actually told her that dream, and she laughed!

Usually they are frustration dreams. I have had many dreams where I am walking along a path, or by a lakeshore or riverside or maybe in a field after a rain, and I am looking for quicksand. I'll stick my feet into a mud puddle, find not much, and keep looking.

I did have a nice one once, though, where I stepped into my childhood sandbox, which by the way was real dirt and not play sand...and it was a quicksandbox! I sank right down! I'm not the only one who had the idea, though...I think UberGaijin did a drawing of something like that and I know I've seen at least one other artwork on this theme.

I've dreamed about being in a park full of sinking holes and I'm walking around exploring...and I find quicksand pit after quicksand pit...but it's crowded with park-goers...and the wheels turn in my head..."How to get rid of them all so I can sink?"

This page is a few years old now. On it, I wrote down a dream I had soon after finding the Net and others like myself. The teeny tiny fence represents the way the barriers of denial shrunk for me after I found out I wasn't alone.

The story doesn't describe what happened after I stepped over the teeny tiny fence...I opted to show that with an illustration. No, the girl in the quicksand doesn't look like me even though she does represent me, for she's obviously gone right over the fence and into the mudpit.

I never showed photos of myself back then and I used an adult-looking doll as a model.

I frequently have quicksand dreams. Unfortunately, they are almost always stress dreams, which means I am in a panic mode during the dream. Any time I encounter quicksand, it is always a quick sink under. I always want to try to slow it down and turn it into a good scene, but the dream dictates a sudden sink. So much for good sinking dreams. You have a better way of verbally expressing yourself, but I feel the frustration of, in a dream, not being able to control the way I sink in a quicksand situation. It just gets out of control. But I will keep trying.

Thanks for your honesty in describing your dreams - it is helpful to me in evaluating my experience.

My most recent dream concerning deep mud was early Friday morning, when I suddenly found myself at a marshy area south of a campsite at Big Bar lake. I was camping there last year with my parents. After that camping trip last summer, I discovered a small pond in Google Earth that I had missed, and wondered if it held bottomless black organic muck like I had found further to the west. Anyways, in this dream, I was in the clearing, with that unexplored area to the southeast. I headed over there, and found pits of brownish black muck, with an extension pointing southward on the west side. I took a very long stick and probed it, and couldn't find any bottom. Then, as many dreams do, the area changed, and I was probing deep bottomless mud in a mudpit that was in a rectangular cement pool. The appearance of the surface of the mud then changed to look like a brick wall laying on the ground (surface of the mud became red bricklike rectangles with white in between them like mortar), but everything with the texture of mud. I pushed the stick all the way under, with my hand and part of my arm disappearing in its softness. But, there were other people around, so I didn't try any sinking. :(

Several nights ago, I remember part of one dream where I saw a spring coming out of an embankment, and I managed to work myself in sideways into it, working myself horizontally deeper and deeper, feeling some thicker stuff above the looser stuff around my legs collapse, which added a bit of resistance to my sideways sinking. But, at least I did manage to sink past my waist! :D

I have had other dreams of deep mud, but can't think of them right now. :?
I sink, therefore I WAM!!!!

I've had a few quicksand/deep mud dreams. Strangely, though, I didn't find them exciting or arousing; they were terrifying. In the two or three I remember having, I went into a familiar area (e.g. behind a house) and began sinking into the ground. It usually isn't creamy thick mud, but rather more like that peat stuff we've been seeing videos of lately. I remember sinking disturbingly quickly and being unable to grab anything to get me out. I'd sink up to my neck or chin and have this horrible feeling that I'd be under any second and no one would know. Then I'd wake up.

What's interesting to me is that the dreams I've had about it aren't exactly my flavor when it comes to what I enjoy thinking about, reading, or watching. Though I suppose it's not a bad thing that the idea of deep mud and quicksand still holds fear for me. I think it adds to the excitement of the whole thing. :)

Good topic!

Oh, yeah. 8-)

One I remember was going for a lunchtime walk with two ladies from my office. Somehow our office building had been transplanted to a green, foggy coastline somewhere. Where the dream-road curved around a small bay, the ladies suddenly decided to take a shortcut across the tidal flat. :o

Another one was. . . I can only call it a religious experience. At a certain point in my life, one night where I was completely stressed out and at the end of my rope, I had a dream where a certain female (not a real world person or a "dream extra") appeared in my dream, did a sink for me, and we had spectacular sex in the mud afterwards- "Beause you needed it, and I really do love you." This was one of the few lucid dreams I have ever had- normally if I realize I am dreaming I wake up instantly. Also, She tried to disguise herself as a "dream extra" (one of those random people your brain peoples dreams with) but I recognized Her.
Imagination? Random nerve firings of an overstressed brain? Maybe. Maybe not. :?:

A few nights ago I had a dream where I went into my backyard and it was after it had rained. I went to go step into the flowerbed which was all muddy and soft from the rain and my feet sank into it. I started to struggle and I just pulled down deeper and deeper until I was about waist deep I stopped then started to struggle again and I sand faster and more deeper and eventually I got to the point was I was neck deep into the mud. I grabbed hold of the brick side infront of me as it continued to pull me down until I got completely submerged in the mud and sunk deeper and deeper down into it. For some reason I like the thought of being engulfed deep into the mud or quicksand and just let myself fall under. But then of course I pulled myself out afterwards.

I rarely dream about anything but when I have for the last ten years or so they are usually centered on one of two themes. The first is dialing 911 or trying to get help for something and just being ignored by everyone. The second involves very lucid sexual quicksand fantasies with women that I always know from real life. I'll spare names and details to avoid embarrassing any innocents who might be around. These dreams are relatively rare and seem to come in groups on successive nights. I wish I knew what caused them because they're really great. 8-)
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.
