Re: Well, I managed to dream about quicksand...
I've always had a fantasy about a girl sinking in a vat of warm, soft margarine. Maybe a bit off the wall, but I thought I'd mention it.

Once I told a gal I worked with some years back about a dream I had I pulled her out of some quicksand she got intregied by I was telling her how she was sinking (she was waist deep at first) and when I got to her she was armpit deep. She had the cutest reactions to this. After a couple minutes she told me "I know it wasn't real but thanks for pulling me out."

I've had a couple dreams where it was only just me sinking into the quicksand and they were pretty much random moments that occurred in my dreams. I've also had a few dreams where it was my boyfriend and I sinking in quicksand as well as having a few dreams where it was Mario (one of my favorite video game characters as you can probably notice from the avatar I have showing right now) and I sinking in quicksand. For those who play the Mario games will probably already know that quicksand is more likely found in the desert levels in most games so I guess that could explain as to why I tend to have Mario in some of my dreams as well.

All the quicksand dreams that I've had (that I remember, at least) have been nightmares. Scary ones. I don't know why.

Dreams are strange. One can have a really intense, realistic dream about a desperate battle against dark gods and evil magicians, blood and gore and danger, and it's not a nightmare. But sometimes a seemingly ordinary dream can turn into a nightmare. Go figure. . .

I know what you mean. The dream I had about the gal friend I mentioned seemed real.
Afterward it seemed like she'd really been in quicksand.

Re: Well, I managed to dream about quicksand...
I've had some dreams, repetitively in varying details, that are such that I have genuinely windered whether some of the details represented real places. One involves finding a stream going downslope through a forest and being absolutely certain that if I followed the stream I would find quicksand or deep mud. Another involves a very large house, or complex of houses that I apparently live in. Some of the rooms are unfinished or derelict. Another involves a house but there is an adjacent property or perhaps it is a lot where I have built a mud pit. ALl of these, for what its worth, pre-date the existence of Studio 588 by quite a bit so perhaps they represent a wish to build the Studio or something like it.
Another "memory" that just might be from a dream is of a quicksand scene. This one is so detailed that I believe it is an actual memory but I cannot be sure and I've never been able to identify the scene. I have described the scene here before in an attempt to identify it. My memory says I saw a teaser clip during a Saturday-morning adventure program. The program itself is definitely real - it was mostly Tarzan and Jungle Jim flicks on Saturday mornings and I am quite certain that some of the ads were always teasers for flicks coming to the local theaters at the time. This would have been in the mid to late 50s. What I remember of the teaser clip was some sort of monster menacing a female, causing her to back away and falling into quicksand. Then there was a cutaway, probably to the monster, and then back to a brief shot of the woman's arms sticking up from the mud and alternately reaching up and falling down. I have no memory of the monster itself.

Hmmm, looking at the stories many of us have grim dreams, indeed. I often dream of going under, being completely taken by the bog and abandon myself to my feelins exhaling for a last time, struggling at depth and fading away finally. Pretty sure that I'm not the only one

Re: Well, I managed to dream about quicksand...
Two nights ago I had one. I know I've had others, but it's been a long time since I can remember having any. Mine was pretty fantastic. I'm not sure if I was alone or not, but I was someplace very warm, in a swampy, muddy area. The landscape looked varied in terrain; dry-looking in spots, a surface like potting soil in other places. There was sparse tropical vegetation in spots and separating each area. I was running from someone or something. I was afraid (and secretly excited) because I knew if I went further into the swamp, it was going to become more wet and dangerous. I was anxious. I remember it looking very "wet" and at one point I came across a wall of mud. I quickly approached an area that was smooth mud of questionable footing. It easily held my weight at first, but as I sped on I suddenly dropped waist-deep in mud of perfect consistency. At this point I think I had a male companion who also fell in. But unfortunately, that is when I woke up.
