I wish it was called Woman vs Wild. That desert quicksand was great.

Re: missed oppertunity...
There have been many, but the recent King Kong movie had awesome potential.

Dave,
I neglected to mention the King Kong remake, but, with the special effects so good, and with the heroine briefly stuck in a swampy location before Kong saves her from the T-rex's, it would have been awesome. Maybe next remake.

Yes I agree, a good scene, but I would like to point out that very scene was referred to in a post prior to Dave's mention......

Perhaps the best time for that to happen was when she was at the bottom the slightly marshy chasm with the 2 T Rexes after her and Kong fights them off. It would have been more exciting had she had been sinking in mud/quicksand all the while Kong was preoccupied with the vicious dinosaurs and perhaps even having the girl going under and after winning his fight Kong sees the bubbles on the surface and reaches in to retrieve the unconcious girl from the deadly ooze. Wow after reading my thoughts, I'm now thinking..... I should have been in movies!!! LOL
Talk about a lot of great minds thinking alike here!
I'll add a couple of recent remake movies that warranted female quicksand scenes and also involving hungry T Rexi (is Rexi plural of Rex??) Journey to The Center of the Earth and Land of the Lost ....both were LOST causes when it comes to sinking scenes....

Here's one that just came to me. On Xena could have had Gabriel wind up in some quicksand somehow and having to be rescued by Xena.

The Riker moment in Star Trek was a big missed opportunity; Tasha should have gone in the goo.
That was more of a "The wrong one went in!" .
Another case of the "wrong one/missed opportunity" is Apacalypto, though I am not sure how that could have been written in.....
And I am talking about the babe.....

LOST was a gigantic disappointment in every way.
and when I heard that Sandman was in Spiderman 3, I was sure that he'd attack beautiful Miss Dunst with her beautiful red hair. But no. I still refuse to watch that movie.
But to me the ultimate missed opportunity was in Lobster Man From Mars!!!
I mean you've got a gorgeous Deborah Foreman chased right into a patch of steamy, bubbly quicksand, with a sign and everything, and then WHAT?!?!?!? What was the fucking problem!?!?
Could they not pay her enough to actually get muddy?
Could they not dig a four foot hole for her to sink in??
I mean seriously, what was the point of even including quicksand in that shitty movie?
I even hate Val Kilmer for starring with her in Real Genius,
I fucking hate everything associated with fucking goddamn Lobster Man From Mars!!!!!

exactly!!! they even had a perfect situation at the end, when the Swamp Thing was battling the Mad Scientist/Monster... instead of stabbing her, the Monster should have pushed her into a swampy place... and she realizes that there's no bottom.... so she slowly sinks while the 2 critters fight it out...

Re: missed oppertunity...
I actually saw the abomination called Mortal Kombat:Annhilation in the theaters.. Sonya approaches a patch of ground that is obviously wet and shimmering.. then proceeds to have a fight in the shallowest, most disappointing mud ever.
I mean it's still girls fighting in the mud... I just don't like when my "quicksand radar" is teased like that.

After reading that, I'm thinking that would have been an excellent set up for a tar pit scene - not 100% sure, but I do believe there was oil on the island, and it fits in nicely with the prehistoric theme.
Obviously, the kind of tar that holds a damsel firmly in place until rescued, yet washes off in no time as soon as our heroine goes anywhere near water
