It's real. There's a nice looking lady wearing nothing stuck in a bog that I know for a fact she couldn't touch bottom if she was standing on a tall giraffe. She's reaching for real. Ironically even though there have been many images that try so hard to create "reality" by going over the top, this one is most "real". I've always loved it for that if nothing else. Look at the story it might be telling. She's stuck? She's sinking and trying to hang on? Playing? It's the Mona Lisa of qs photos.

I stand corrected, for precisely the reasons you state. :D

Please understand that I'm not trying to say any choice is wrong. You can't tell someone what their favorite anything is. I'm probably a little more emotionally attached to a lot of photos that have gone through this group and any of them elicit something of a studied response from me. It's been a lot of photos over the last, holy crap, twenty years in February?! My choice for my favorite was one of the earlier ones and probably made a bigger impression on me than something I'd see today. Great topic though. It would be wonderful to hear from every single person on this board how they feel about it.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

Duncan,

you are right that "favorite picture" is a subjective thing. There are two important things that determine the possible choice - personal kinks and first impression. Personal kinks are known - some people prefer them nude, others demand a certain type of clothes, how deep is the victim, how large are her boobs, what kind of mud or quicksand is on the photo, etc. The first impression is another factor. We speak about fetish, and I believe that most fetishes are based on some early impressions from childhood. A photo reproducing such early impression, or a photo that comes from old times, might be more favorited than later, more quality and more clear photos.

I am sorta pervert here, so I wouldn't even mention the photos that I love most of all (though, this topic did inspire me to look through my huge collection...)

Duncan,

When I saw the title of this thread, the picture you posted immediately came to my mind as a favorite. Then I clicked in to see you had posted the very Chuck Lang photo that I remembered. I agree with you - my favorite single picture, although there are hundreds of really good ones to choose from. The mud consitency, the depth, the reach, the facial expression all make this a great photo.

My nodding agreement to Duncan.

Clreed11 instantly came to my mind as my all-time favorite of the last 20 years. I'm pleased to see Duncan and others validate exactly how I feel about it.

This photograph.

I have always loved the photo precisely because it's the Rorschach test of quicksand. I know that I myself would be quite happy if I was where she was, and nothing her face says no to that, but you can read other things into it and they all work too.

It's also, pure and simple, a great shot. The pose, the model, the quicksand pit, the everything, just plain looks good. This particular lady had a very classy look, too, and I always liked that. I can envision her in a long gown, sitting at a table in a restaurant nice enough for cloth napkins and real silverware, holding a wine glass.

For a long time my favorite still image was one by WAVE IDS. I think the name of the file was "death.jpg," but I am not certain I remember that correctly. The shot was, I think, a screencap from one of their videos and showed just an upturned face apparently a few seconds from submergence in a peat bog. When I bought the video itself I was disappointed (in that particular point in the scene) when the motion revealed the peat to be rather watery, but that did not show in the still. I probably have the image somewhere among my collection of more than a quarter-million stills but it would be under copyright.
Studio 588 currently offers more than 2200 different HD and QD quicksand videos and has supported production of well over 2400 video scenes and other projects by 20 different producers. Info may be found at:

I agree with Duncan on this one. That was one of the first photos I had seen back in the old days of newsgroups. Still one of my favourites to this day.

Favorite? A most difficult choice. If I had to pick, the three below would be a tied for first place. Fortunately, we don't have to pick. ;)
