Re-read the title of this thread.

somebodyelse wrote:Call me a prude if you like (everybody else does), but I’m not into the sex play (the actual sex play, not the sexual tension between the big strong hero and the quicksand’s beautiful, helpless victim). I have the opinion that if you’re caught in quicksand or mud, it’s life or death. If it was I who was being swallowed alive by a mass of thick, sucking goop, I’d be screaming my lungs out, struggling to exhaustion, and terrified that I’d be gone soon if nobody came to save me, not pleasuring myself (or anyone else, for that matter). Having said that, I realize that it’s “different strokes for different folks,” and if somebody else does like that aspect, I have no issues at all; enjoy. I just think about the old movies, TV shows, etc., when every scientist’s daughter, female anthropologist, research assistant, flight attendant in a plane crash, doctor, nurse, etc., who was within a 1000 mile radius of a jungle or swamp, was in danger of becoming a “girl dinner” for some inconspicuous quicksand pit or mud bog. And that’s another aspect of the fetish that I don’t enjoy; not being able to participate. If I was younger, prettier, in better shape (mostly just prettier), the second I found out about the people who make these videos, I’d have been on the phone, shooting out emails, etc., to find out how I could volunteer my services as a damsel in distress. That ship has probably sailed, though, so I live vicariously through the movies, TV shows, and the works you guys produce. You are all greatly appreciated. I still hold out hope, however, that some day it will be me who is sinking and struggling in the mire, pleading for someone to save me.

Sorry for the dissertation-length post.

Nah I feel you.

Needing to be watchable by general audiences filled old media with veiled eroticism that was all the more so because of this creative constraint. There's that aphorism that goes something like "everything is about sex, except for sex, which is about power". Let power dynamics carry a scene, and the audience will picture all manner of explicit things vividly on their own. But they'll only be doing so because the power dynamics are so exquisite.

It has been my experience that whenever there is an inundation of excted claims about world-changing breakthroughs, it is almost always true that the actual change will take MUCH longer and will be less worldbeating. Remembre the hype about lab-grown meat? Remember the claims about education via computer? Remember 3D video?
I have lost the source, except it was a story published in "The Chronicle of Higher Education," about 30 or 40 years ago, about an earlier educational breakthrough. To whit: There was a new technology in the wings that would very soon eliminate the need for brick and mortar classrooms, high-priced instructors, and the lot. That could be computer instrction, but it was not. The excited news was from a speaech given by a state governor somewhere. The year was 1928, and the brekthrough was educational RADIO.
I think videos with live performers still has a future.
Studio 588 currently offers more than 2200 different HD and QD quicksand videos and has supported production of well over 2400 video scenes and other projects by 20 different producers. Info may be found at:

Were those the same people who thought the “open classroom” was a good idea?
