When I was younger, like high school or so, I always felt so guilty or wrong when I would indulge in self insert scenarios. Like, I should only get off to women in peril. I felt like it was gay to fantasize about myself being sucked down into quicksand (I am most definitely straight).

There's some things that work for other people that don't work for me. Peripheral bits like leather or boots or whatever just seem to get in the way. I don't think I've ever dared to seriously imagine having a partner who shares my fetish and at least understands my angles on it. I can't really mourn this, because I have no basis of comparison. I've understood from early on that I'm very unusual.

I dislike that the cinematic quicksand of my dreams is probably impossible to replicate in real life. But who knows, maybe there is a Quicksand Manhattan Project quietly going on in some university basement as we speak, that will change everything.

I find it double-edged that being in a very small niche means that a very small part of society's resources are dedicated to titillating me. There is not an army of romance authors and screenwriters crafting tons of complex lesbian quicksand thrillers for major distribution, which is bad.

For videos: I'm not into the grim stuff. I also feel like when it's women sinking they're less diverse than what I see in some other kinks.

For doing it myself: Yeah cuts are no fun. Besides that, I think just that I rarely get the chance to do it. It's a niche kink and I haven't yet found a play partner for it. Also going sinking outdoors is ethically problematic (there's plenty of people who'd be against doing any sort of kink in a public place) and legally risky. Sadly I don't have my own garden or even a spare room so a home mud pit isn't an option.
